Thinking of coming back......

Thinking of coming back......

Post by Elf »

Since Im waiting for WoW to be released and im going to have some free time this fall to play online again, I was thinking about firing up EQ again.

The situation is, all my RL friends have quit, only a handful of close friends from game still play. Most are scattered into various guilds.

So basically if It looks like Im going to have to find a new home.

Guess what im looking for are what guilds would be good to inquire about. And what guilds not to waste my time with due to where I left off in the game.

Im 65, pretty much was heading toward NToV and ssra, but never did. I dont want to see a this guild better then that guild sort of thing. I just want to know what would be reasonable for me to inquire about.

Ive talked to a couple, just wanted to know what all was out there.

Thanks and good to see any old folks still out there.

Most important thing is your playtime. How often can you play/raid.

Come back or don't. I wouldn't based it on filling time before WoW though; you'll only end up at the bottom of the "Anticipation Pit of Despair"tm.

what are you looking for? elemental+? Ssra/VT? a little of everything? a lot of everything? if you're going in full time i would point you towards Fiends, they are moving at an incredible pace and will be in elementals soon while they continue to kill all ranges of content.

Hiya Elfwind,

Nice to see your thinkin of playing again for a while. As was stated you really need to think about what you want out of a guild and what you can give to a guild. There arnt any best choices its just a matter of finding the guild thats the best fit for you.

I'd suggest deciding rather you want to see elemental planes, just want a little raiding or just want a group of folks to chat with when your online. You should take a look at the Big Killer Thread to narrow down your choice to 4-5 guild depending on the zones you want to be raiding in and then look at each of those guilds to see which one fits your style the best.

Send me a tell in game would love to chat a bit :).

If you are looking to pick up where you left off, the rejuvinated Hooac, Brewing Company, and Blue Cloak are probably your best bets. If you want to do endgame Luclin/SSra/VT level, Primus Exodus, Sceptred Isle, and Only the Brave are likely canidates. If you are looking for Early POP/working to elementals, Fiends and Farstorm are your best bet. If you want to jump in to elementals, be prepared to suck miles of cock for the flags you will need to leach and check out Sovreign, Circle of Eternity, and Pravus Dei. In any case, if you are looking at jumping in at the POP level at all, you're going to need some serious time commitment to bring your AAs and flags up to snuff.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

I just want to say its damn good to see you in Norrath again, Elf. As for the guild thing, check out some guild websites. Most of them have requirements, rosters, recent kills, etc. If I know you, you probably want to be around people you know, so just chat with some old friends and see where it takes you. Welcome home, bro.

I agree. Raist, cant you find a good avatar like vanilla ice, or kid rock instead? That avatar is so gay that the catholic church might make you a bishop.

Heya Elf...

Great to see you back online again. As Peacedog said, give some long time friends a /tell and see where that goes. I'm out of town on business atm but I'll be back online regularly soon enough.
