Halflife 2 Gameplay Demo - Oh fucking shit my christ!
The new standard for video games will be out in two months.
I am literally in awe of what I just saw. The physics model is just unreal. No word on the specs of the PC playing that game, but even with my current rig, I'm thinking upgrades will be in order. Simply amazing.
See for yourself here:
http://www.fileplanet.com/files/120000/123983.shtml
It's a nearly 600MB file, but it is WELL worth the download if you haven't already seen it. It's also 25 minutes long. It's been out since 5/23/03 apparently so my apologies if you have already seen this.
Bonus points to anyone that can tell me what movie the comment in my thread title came from, and who said it.

Do you ever NOT talk out of your ass? I mean, it's obvious you rarely know what you're talking about, but a simple Google search would have helped you avoid embarrassing yourself. I'm not sure we can keep a count on the number of times you've placed your name near totally invalid information, but I'm willing to bet it would be exponentially higher than the number of times you've had sex with a woman. Try doing some fucking research from time to time, and spare us your droning 15 page responses that are really only useful for combating insomnia.Counter-Strike: Condition Zero will use an enhanced version of the same engine that's used for Counter-Strike. This thing is seriously getting on in years by now, but you wouldn't know it by looking at Condition Zero. The designers at Gearbox have added some great new graphical touches like alpha blending, which allows for the use of foliage and weather effects in Condition Zero's new maps. High-resolution textures and far more detailed character models (along with some new animations) also help make the game look much better than the original. Visually, the difference between Condition Zero's visuals and those of Counter-Strike is a lot like what Gearbox did to make Half-Life: Blue Shift improve the appearance of the original Half-Life.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
...
This game looks really amazing so far; I downloaded both the full game preview and the smaller one of just the G-man. The graphics and enviroments look very realistic and the computer AI is espcially well programmed it seems, reminds me of Dues Ex in that the guys will actually search for you and notice clues that your in the area.
I think I will have to upgrade to a new computer this winter though, so many new games coming out that break previous benchmarks and use all the new graphics abilitys on the new cards will push my computer to the limits considering it had trouble with Planetside in the moderate battles.

After searching every game site I know of, as well as Google, the only new counterstrike I can find any information about is Condition Zero.
Additionally, from 'The FAQ' @ http://www.counter-strike.net:
Linkage plz Murr?
Additionally, from 'The FAQ' @ http://www.counter-strike.net:
So while I have no doubt they'll be modding it in the future, I can't find ANY information about it anywhere.Future CS Projects
What's this I hear about a new CS single player episode?
Gearbox Software (makers of the HL expansion packs Opposing Force and Blue Shift) is working on a CS single player expansion pack called Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. More details will come out as the game progresses.
What is the CS Team's role in Counter-Strike: Condition Zero?
The CS Team is in the loop just to make sure the CS vision is carried out. That's the extent of it. We, the CS Team, will continue to concentrate on multiplayer gameplay and next generation games.
Will there be a Counter-Strike sequel?
Any future projects by the CS Team will be announced on couter-strike.net.
Linkage plz Murr?

Dear Aranuil,
Who is talking out thier ass?
Like the man said, Counterstrike is just a expansion pack of half life basically.
If you ever played either you should know this.
That being said we can make an assumption of Counter Strike 2...since there is no "counter strike" engine we can assume the author of that article is as ignorant as you are.
"At the recent Game Developers Conference we caught up with Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, the company that's now polishing up the forthcoming Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. As you probably know, the original Counter-Strike began as a multiplayer mod for Half-Life " - Gamespot
"Visually, the difference between Condition Zero's visuals and those of Counter-Strike is a lot like what Gearbox did to make Half-Life: Blue Shift improve the appearance of the original Half-Life." - Gamespot
"Powered by an enhanced Half-Life engine, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero introduces new game technologies including highly-detailed models; atmospheric enhancements, such as snow and rain; and more dynamic special effects"
http://www.cs-conditionzero.com
It would only make sense for them if they used the same new game engine for CS as they did for HL. No point in inventing the exact same thing twice.
Basically think of it this way....Counterstrike is a "skin" for half life...it's a bit more complex than that but it's a pretty accurate description.
I've played both...the major difference was counterstrikes models, and the fact it is played in rounds...
But I never bought half life....I just played half life through my copy of counter strike, I simply choose to play on a half life server for a day to see what it was all about. That's how closely related they were...counterstrike actually installed all the half life models on my machine...I had a working copy of half life.

I know what the fuck Counterstrike is. I've been playing it off and on for 4-5? years now. I follow the community fairly closely, and I am eagerly awaiting Condition Zero. Which is the ONLY currently planned CS release, and does NOT make use of the Half-Life 2 engine. Is that fucking clear? No?
YOU don't get it.
Let me make it abundantly clear for you.
The upcoming Counterstrike game is called Counterstrike-Condition Zero.
It will use a modified version of the ORIGINAL Half-Life engine.
Half-Life 2 will be out in two months.
It will be using a NEW engine.
While I have no doubt that it will EVENTUALLY happen, no one is working on a mod to Half-Life 2 yet because... wait for it... IT'S NOT FUCKING AVAILABLE YET.
Do YOU understand?
Obviously NOT.
Posting tip #2 for you: When attempting to argue with someone, it is UNWISE to quote information which SUPPORTS their argument.
With regards to Murr's statement, he might be correct, but I was unable to find any references to a 'Counterstrike 2' that did not equate to Counterstrike Condition Zero. If he has some linkage I haven't seen I'd be highly interested.

I'm having trouble finding documentation as well, but I'm fairly positive that Condition Zero is the singleplayer release that Valve is only somewhat involved in, while CS2 will be a multiplayer only mod on Halflife2. The dearth of info is strange, I admit. Not sure why.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I see a possible explination for Pil's post.
CS was a mod made by players for HL.
Therfor, should the people that made CS (not valve, the actual people thst started modding for CS itself) decide to do so, a "CS2" mod sequel using the new HL2 engine is possible.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

I completely agree with you, Akaran.
The problem I have is when Pils makes bogus statements like:
I'm sure there will be a lot of games to come out using the HL2 engine as it's truly a revolutionary engine, but there's no currently planned CS that will be using it. If he'd said like... I'm sure there will be a CS down the road that will be using the new engine, I would have totally agreed with him.

When in fact, the only 'new counterstrike' that's slated for release is Condition Zero, and it will not be making use of the HL2 engine.and obviously using the same engine on the new counterstrike.

Ok, you have me somewhat, I'll grant you that.
I assumed a little too much, I read somewhere about counterstrike 2.0 and assumed counterstrike condition zero was it.
And then when I read about condition zero and it's modified game engine it sounded even more like it was version 2.0 and not just a expansion pack to the original game...
I just thought they were different names for the same thing.
I can't find the info for cs 2.0 tho.

Yea after some more research Condition Zero is the only CS with a release date, it's the old engine with new models, but rumors abound about a CS2 for the HL2 engine and I doubt Valve would pass on that opportunity.
