Question about an old NES game

Post by Nilaman »

I was playing a few old ROMs earlier and I remembered a game I used to play with my cousins when I was little. I don't know the name of it, but I hope you can help me out.

It was a co-op army game for NES. There was a blue guy and a red guy (I think, could be that other game where you put together a super gun), you could shoot and throw bombs. You could also ride in a tank if you took it over. Also, if you died you ran out of lives you could come back to life with a code like "a,b,a,b".

Maybe some of you remember it? Any guesses would be great. Thanks

I think you may mean the original Contra.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Not to sure but if it had the up, down, up, down, b, a, b, a, start code then it was made by Konami. You may want to check their old data base.

Holy shit. I can't believe someone else remembers that game.

In conclusion, yes, I believe this is the game the original poster was looking for.

Ikari Warriors?

Haha - I think I used to play this game in the Arcade in the mid/late 80s if I'm remembering it correctly.

Taking over jeeps/tanks was the win!

Wrong code..it's up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, start.

And yes, I used to have Ikari warriors haha. It wasn't by konami so the code doesnt work...the code the original poster listed actually sounds familiar to Ikari warriors but it's been so long I can't remember that one.

I think the Ikari warriors code was a, a, b, a or something like that whene the game over thing is up....it was a simple code, that's for sure.

I never owned the game myself, never knew the name of it. But I know my cousins and I played it religiously. Not doing so hot on the emulator, needa get a nintendo controller converter!

"Ikari Warriors was manufactured by Tradewest which licensed the game from SNK."

Btw, it's emulated by MAME so get the real version rather than the Nintendo conversion.
