Endless Saga - Square/Enix - PS2 - RPG
I thought Squaresoft being involved in the project meant it had to be good...so I bought it despite the guy behind the counters whispers of "it sucks, noone likes it, I don't suggest it, Well you can bring it back for a refund in 7 days"
Anyway....here is my take on it....I only played it for a few minutes, I imagine one day I will be bored enough to return since i paid $50 and I don't return anything ever.
1. The Sketch Animation - They use a new animation type for the game, I personally don't really like it. It's just weird. It's "storybook-ish" I guess would be the word if such a word existed.
2. The towns - it's a whole new system again...in town you click on the map where you want to go choosing from available shops and all of a sudden your there..there is no travel to the shop.
3. Travel on the world map - similar and equally strange...you take steps...you have a map and a few ways to move and you move the analog stick in that direction and you hop there, there is no walkig, and no real scenery.
4. Battle - it's a system of rings...I find it interesting, and probably the least of my concerns regarding the game, but again it's totally new and different. But it allows you to preform "combos" and therefor could in fact be superior to other games once you get used to it.
I don't recommend this game....it's too weird.

Yeah...
Well, I was thinking about picking it up, but then I read up on it at Gamefaqs, and it was said to be pretty much a graphical adaptation of a text RPG so...

FF X-2 isn't due out for a couple months...
I didn't like Xenosaga so much, I'm not sure why.....it was a good game as far as I could tell it had all the proper elements. It was just a personal preference issue.
Claritin said it's because you don't get hooked until mid-game. I only played it a few hours and I was still getting bogged down in all the cut-scenes etc...no real battles to speak of. I eventually quit Xenosaga when I was in control of the bionic guy and the little girl robot...I was trying to escape and I was pratically unarmed and I saved the game, and I didn't realize I was in a room with 3 gundam suits or whatever. The little girl did something to thier radar or something but the suits still attacked me. I'm sure I could have gotten out if I tried a couple more times but....I didn't bother.
I hated the little girl robot....I HATED HER.

I actually bought (rare - thx flip-top cases) and finished Baulders Gate and loved it. My only complaint was all the expensive stuff I looted on the last level and couldn't get a chance to sell.. Hopefully Baulders Gate 2 will allow character imports. Gots to get cash bling bling!
Anyway, great game. FFX was good too, but much h8 for the Sin boss thingie I could never get past.
