In my humble opinion, both exceed 'fitness', and both are bodybuilders.

Well, bodybuilding have some criteria that you must follow for judgement and that goes for fitness as well.

You can easily see the differences between fitness physiques and bodybuilder physiques due to the different styles of contest.

What the BB judges mostly want nowadays is mass in a symmetrical package. BB contests just have posing though as a method of judgement for the judges.

Fitness include not only pose-downs but also several strength and stamina tests. Running a gauntlet, max dips, max chins etc which demands a great condition and stamina as well , not only good symmetry.

It would be hard for most of the athletes in the top-10 Olympia to have running and stamina contests as well as posing due to their high weight and low bodyfat-lvl. Dehydration as well.

I'll give you some examples so you can see the difference between a BB physique and a fitness physique Ara!

This is a fitnessguy here from sweden.

the guy on the left is mr. fitness but he has no real stamina.

impossible to guess their weight without knowing their height, but the black dude is about 40 lbs. lighter.

Kyo is correct!

The guy on the left is 185 cm.

Their weight difference is 14 lbs.

I'd guess the opposite, the one on the right has the "grainy" look to his muscles that come from intentionally bulking up. Which builds no endurance, it's primarily for looks.

Kind of like $2000 wheels and tires and a Type "R" sticker on a 10 year old Hyundai to make it go faster

No idea on the weight, the one on the left looks to have higher muscle density which would make him heavier, even if he wasn't taller.

Kyo is correct that the one on the left is Mr.Fitness.

Aabidano is correct that Fitness athletes have better stamina than BB athletes.

Bodybuilders do not have to train stamina to the same extent for their contests.

Bodybuilders are judged by their vascularity, combination of mass and symmetry. The look of their muscles in different poses.

Fitness athletes are judged by their results in running a gauntlet, the amount of dips, the amount of chins as well as the posedown.
So more stamina-training is needed for fitness contests.

Some top Bodybuilders get exhausted very easily due to the mass they have to gain as well as due to the "jungle juice" they abuse!

well its kind of obvious because the guy on the right is wearing a bodybuilder thong that no fitness dude would be caught dead wearing, probably because most of them still have a penis and testicles.

hehe Always hilarious to read Kyos posts! :)

What a way with words! :D

Yes, that is correct! Perhaps that was too revealing. BB athletes wear special thongs in contests, while the garment you wear in Athletic fitness is this.

To the first pic i must add that the BB athlete weighed 160 lbs and the fitness athlete 174 lbs.

Not only posing and musularity but other things to judge as well, strength, stamina etc

Good to see ya ol troll! :D

Well, missing areas happens, and the judges penalize contestants for that, if they see that it detracts from the physique etc.

Who knew that tanning would be so important in contests like this?

I want to get in good shape, have a 6-pack and some lats, decent arms...

But I don't want to look like that. I want to be like...like a regular guy with a little more mass and definition.....but not freakish.

Also now I know what you guys meant when you said fake tans look orange.....I don't look like that from the tanning bed. I don't even really look tan, I just look normal....

Tanning bed+Irish descent= normal instead of pure white.

Lol you proly know this already pils but, as long as you keep your 6 pack, girls will be all over you.

I work out, and you can see that i do, but when swimming or something, its like only 1 thing exists.. my 6 pack.

I dunno, maybe this deserves a thread of its own, i think girls go wild over the pack more than anything else..

I'm trying to build a 6-pack...I don't have one atm.

I'm 5'10"...in feburary I was 187 lbs and definately not fat, but not wher I wanted to be. Now I'm at 165 lbs, and that's including the muscle I put on.

I'm in good shape now I think definately good for age 29, maybe average at gold's gym where I work out though lol. Some of those guys, jesus, they are so huge.

Anyway I'm up to 1-2 sets of 500 crunches each. And then I just started adding 2 sets of 15 reps with 100 lbs of weight, trying to bulk up the muscles insteadof give them endurance....hopefully that will help OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS.

My goal is still 12 months out....but I was hoping to see a little more visible progress. The hardest part now is I'm BELOW my goal weight...so it's like impossible to see progress normally, and now it's impossible to measure on a scale. It's very frustrating.

I mean last month I gained a lb...was that good or bad? I mean if I lost 3 lbs of fat and gained 4 lbs of muscle that would be awsome improvement. But if I just added 1 lb of fat that sucks ass. And I don't know which it is....

I remember reading a Men's Health article over a year ago regarding what physical features chicks dig the most. Broad shoulders topped the list. Like men with their subconscious attention to waist/hip ratio with women (aka the hourglass), it is said that women subconsciously pay more attention to the shoulder/waist ratio for men( the "V"). Hence muscular lats, traps, and delts would be the best way to go (in addition to at least having a flat stomach and not a gut). I think a 6 pack was somewhere like 4th down the list behind shoulders, chest, and arms.

While a 6 pack is nice, you can't go around walking with your shirt off to show it off everywhere you go. The three features ranked ahead of the abs are all far more noticable.

women like broad shoulders because holding your back straight and your shoulders up is a sign of confidence and strength. its very alpha male.

its the same with men liking breasts and hips on women. they are symbols of fertility that feed off the same nesting instinct.

I can personally take or leave a six pack on a guy. As long as he doesnt have a gut, I don't really care. I do love broad shoulders though, and a muscular back. 8)

Legs > Breasts on a woman. Red Hair above all, or some reason Id much rather a lady who can flair up. To me it sparks their personality more, and Ive only really seen it in red headed women. No clue why, but blonds, brunetts, and such just have too much a level headed personality.Where as reds are bouncy with their personality.

At my golds gym, its like the heaven of women in spandex. Its so great. Not to mention Hulk Hogan comes in time to time!

In addition thoug, not nessisarily having a 6-pack but a lot of chicks find it really attractive if you have a nice stomach to top it off, and at my gym i do like only 10 mins at 2 stomach machines and it makes a huge visable difference for very little effort, so its more money in the bank 8),
where arms delts shoulders etc take a lot more time/ effort
but then again the *only* reason i can give 2 shits about what shape im in is to appeal to the opposite sexif it was considered sexier to be unhealthy have a gut and not bathe then i would go outa my way to do that

...wait, kwon is GRAKK DA TROLL BROTHA?

Pssst. Doing stomach machine exercises does nothing in terms of gaining the 6 pack definition. The key is losing the fat that covers the abs, not getting your abs bigger and stronger.

I actually do a lot of weight, but I look like a wuss.

I see guys look like they could tear me in half...they get off the machine and I get on and start with the weight they maxed at and work up from there. I don't understand it.

Like for example:
calf raises - whole stack which is like 220 lbs.
Tricep push down - whole stack 255lbs or so
Back press thing - whole stack 255lbs or so
Lat pull down - 230lbs (can't do the whole stack)

But I definately don't look scary. I look like a pussy. I mean 5'10" 165lbs? Hardly any noticible muscle definition? It's retarded.

More weight less reps = Larger muscle mass, and strength.
Less weight more reps = More tone and cut, and endurance.

You sound like you just dont have the protein keep up you should to be able to build muscle. Either that or youre not breaking them down enough to grow muscle mass.

You can work out all you want. Its what you eat, and how you work out that effects everything. If muscles dont have enough goods to REbuild your muscles you broke down, they will just stay the same with little gain.

Lol believe me, i dont go walking around with no shirt. I was just stating, that on occasions where i am going without a shirt, it seems to get the most notice. But thanks for the other info, im sure i will use it.

Only reason i really work out is to attract girls, and that it feels good.

I only work out because I hate looking at a pale out of shape geek in the mirror.

I am doing high weights I think....I can't do much more than I am now, and I think if I did, I'd get a hernea(sp?). Besides a lot of the machines don't have any more weights hehe....

But you might be right on the protein, I read somewhere about how many grams of protein I should eat when I work out.....it was ridiculous....I can not possibly eat that much protein and not end up with a 5000 calorie a day diet...with tons of saturated fats. I just can't eat that high protein stuff, I tried it once like 8 years ago and it tasted like crap.

I just don't really see the need to add mass quickly. I mean it would be nice, but I'm not going to buy all sorts of whey products and creatine to bulk up and eat shit that tastes like sawdust.

If anyone has a suggestion on a cheap high protein supplment like a drink or candy bar type deal that doesn't taste like ass, feel free to speak up. Or hell if there is a particular meal I should make myself and work into my dinner/lunch rotation.

Anyone see the piece recently in the New England Journal of Medicine that said where you carry weight is largely genetic? Pissed me off.

Ten years of on and off weight training and "outdoor" fitness and I still have a gut. My old man carries one too, hard as an iron kettle.

Obviously Kyou knows more than the researchers!

Where you carry excess weight is largely genetic and hormonal. Whether you carry excess weight is personal.

I've been about 15 pounds over for a long time now. It just isn't worth the time to me to lose that small an amount. Regardless even at 6'2" and 180 pounds I was still decidedly round in the middle.

I salute you six-packers. Wish I were there.

EDIT: Wrong link. Page 5, right-hand column, second paragraph.

genetics don't really have anything to do with HAVING fat...

but they do affect where you carry it. This is more noticeable with females.

Some carry it in their arms and legs...some in their lower abdomen..etc

I'm sure it's true with men too...I'm just not knowledgeable on the types...

edit: Fallanthas, I think she was referring to carrying fat, not the location :)
