20% Whew, that's a lot of tax.
I'm curious. My Texocentrism leads me to belive that people in Europe are more accepting of high taxation than Americans.
If my area suddenly taxed our internet transfers at 20% we'd be kicking politicians out of office in protest.
How about you guys? Is it a real agitant? Or do you accept it as not a big deal?

Death and Taxes. . .
AFAIK we're all ready paying VAT (Value Added Tax - basically sales tax) on ISP fees etc etc but they've just rules that games subscriptions count as a "service" and as such are taxable. 20% is a slight exaggeration as it's actually 17.5% but that works out at another couple o bucks on my AAA subs so I won't notice.
I've watched various governments over the last 20+ years reduce Income Tax (base rate 22% isn't bad) but then hike indirect taxation so fuck'em I stopped caring long ago.

I think a lot of Europe is more inclined to higher taxes as a means to deal with problems in society. I know for me I don't mind paying more for having an NHS (free health service) and such things. However if it got too high I'd probably get pissed, once turned down a job in Holland because their tax rates are like 60% heh. Probably all those heroin addicts!!!!11

I am a libertarian and one of our tenets is small government and small (to none) taxes. I think taxes are way to high in america right now and if they tried to pass a 20% tax on the internet then it would piss a lot of people off. You will never see that in an election year.
Sadly it will get taxed some day because the majority of Americans are too fucking lazy to go out and vote.
