punch drunk love
i went to see this in the theatre when it came out, and DLed it a few days ago,
this is easily within my top 5movies of all time
i dont know if it just touched home with me as far as the disfuntional romance goes, but i thoguth the acting was brilliant, casting was wonderful, music, hell evertyhing about it was great imo
sadly, of my friends that have seen it, none of htem agree :/
but i write this off as them being tasteless mongoloids!

Based on Kriista's recommendation, I downloaded this movie last night and watched it. I'm going to buy it tonight, and add it to my collection, so for the assholes that think online media is a bad thing, had I not watched it first, I never would have purchased it.
At any rate, I don't think Magnolia's is a fair comparison. This movie is by far Adam Sandlers best, and really only acting role. It's a shame he does mostly silly comedies (which are very good for the most part) because he's also a very talented actor and he can handle more serious roles. The movie is very much a Wes Anderson style movie. Kriista, if you liked this, you'd probably also enjoy Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenenbaums.
The movie is very funny in a weird way. You kind of need a twisted sense of humor to really enjoy it, but I thought it was very well written and directed, and the acting (mostly Sandler) was great. Definitely not a chick flick, definitely worth picking up if you liked any of the other movies I mentioned.

Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
rushmore is also one of my fav movies, that one and being john malkovich missed out of my top10 from bad memory
rushmore totally feels like a cult movie, no clue wether it is or not, but if its not, it should be!
ive been meaning to watch royal teneboums just havent gotten around to it, bottle rocket too

So what you are saying is tht if I could have through the overwhelmingly painful first 5-10 minutes of the movie I might have enjoyed it? Because a comparison between this and Magnolia was made. Magnolia has to be my second to least favorite movie of all time. The only movie worse than Magnolia was Crash. Right now I have Punch Drunk Love sitting at the #3 all time worst spot. Perhaps I'll try to watch it one more time.
