problem playing DLed movie files

this has happened to me a couple times

i DL some long ass movie, then go to play it(i have winamp), and nothing happens, or it plays the audio but no video(even tho the file is huge)
i havent had any problems with short music video sized files(around 100mb), but the big stuff never works for me,

is there something i need to DL and install to be able to play movies like that on my PC?

I have been toying with WinDvD 4 or 5 from InterVideo. They seem to play the movies well. I just got a copy from someone who got it with is DVD burner. I haven't installed it yet though.

Sounds like you're lacking the codecs. Try going to http://www.k-lite.tk and getting their codec pack. That should get you most of what you need.

Does Winamp even play video? Been awhile since I used it since it started sucking with version 3.
