Brian Springer
"Spin"
Video, 1995, 60 min.
Using the 1992 presidential election as his springboard, documentary filmmaker Brian Springer captures the behind-the-scenes maneuverings of politicians and newscasters in the early 1990s. Pat Robertson banters about "homos," Al Gore learns how to avoid abortion questions, George Bush talks to Larry King about halcyon -- all presuming they're off camera. Composed of 100% unauthorized satellite footage, Spin is a surreal expose of media-constructed reality.

the larry king pandering for the moderator job in the presidential debates was funny.
also him trying to suggest CLinton should ask ted Turner to be in the cabinet. LOL what a crackpot
i wouldnt say much of the documentary really shows anything that shocking or controversial.
i think Pat Robertson's quotes off camera were pretty funny, but not surprising at all.
but i think the documentary as a whole lacked a cohesive thread, other than that you can catch some embarrassing stuff from satellite feeds.
i bet politicians dont say anything when in the same room w/ a TV camera anymore though =).
it certainly has some interesting stuff in it though =)
