So how many people got spanked by the patch server or other

No holds barred discussion. Someone train you and steal your rare spawn? Let everyone know all about it! (Not for the faint of heart!)

So how many people got spanked by the patch server or other

Things?

I finally got connected to the patch server about 8:30 pm CST and it ran about 2 hours and then I kept getting this XML download error and it would drop my ISP connection.

After about 3 or 4 more tries, I gave up and finally turned the computer off.

Anybody else have problems like that?

I just nested next to the computer and read a book while I tried to log into the patch server. It took maybe 4 tries for the patch, which DLed in less than 5 minutes (Lagged Pine included). Once I logged in, I did a /newui and restarted. Now the fun began, as it took probably an hour of patience to finally log into EQ again.

Total time: 1 hour and 20 minutes

It was worth it though. The new UI is exceptional.

In the meantime, my GF comes over and immediately logs in at about 8pm EST, gets right into the patch server, logs on, /newui, restarts and logs right back on without a problem at all.

Total time: Less than 10 minutes. Grrrr.

I never made it through the patcher last night, kept timing out.

The wife hit a good window I guess, I wandered off for a bit and she patched and came back up on the new UI in 10 minutes. Ran fine all night.

Worked fine for me this morning though, though my entire spellbook is hosed :?

Anybody know if you have to enable to the new UI to be able to open all of your inventory bags at the same time?

Or does it work if you patched?

Once you finally log in, it will be the same as last week. You have to type /newui, then relog. The new, default UI will be active, allowing you to open all your bags. I'll make another thread with the various things you can do that have been discussed. Check it out when you can. Good info there.

aight the easiest way to do it is to, just goto eqclient and go to the DEFAULTS part and type
NewUI=TRUE

do that before u log in and u don'[t have to log all the back out to use the new interface easy and quicker

At least you finished.

I'm still about 2/3rds of the way through. Kept getting a XML download error and wouldn't continue.

hopefully I will be able to get past that tonight.

one machine took 3 tries and about 45 minutes, another took 2 hours of various bombing out, and the third took about 5 hours to patch. All behind the same router, etc etc so I assume just luck of the draw in poliing the patch server.
