The CBC is a funny organisation. You have it that caters to english canadians and is based in Toronto and Radio-Canada which is it's french half and is based in Montreal.
They are the same network yet are so polarly opposite it's staggering.
Don Cherry is always quite honest and upfront about what he says however I don't believe that he represents english canada's stance on the war very well.
Besdies the fact that he shot his mouth off 2 weeks ago....
Don Cherry is a dunderhead who should stick to talking about the only thing he knows... Hockey. His political views have no place on a hockey broadcast.
It's not really censorship, it's about not doing your job... which Cherry and Maclean were not doing. They are paid to talk about hockey for 3-4 minutes every saturday.
If Cherry wasn't so popular, his ass would have been fired long ago.
Maclean is more to blame than Cherry on this one. He (Maclean) pushed all the right buttons to set him off.
An interesting story.
Before the season started, CBC announced that they would not be renewing Ron Maclean's contract for Hockey Night In Canada. Maclean is one of the most popular and competent Canadian sportcasters in history.... He's probably the only one who can keep a leash on Don Cherry.
After a barrage of letters, phone calls, petitions and emails (numbering in the tens of thousands), the CBC was forced to ink a new deal for Maclean.
