Refused - Swedish Hardcore

Post by Canelek »

Unfortunately, they no longer exist, but they have some interesting songs indeed! They were under Epitaph Records. Fucking amazing IMO, some seriously good tunes these guys put out.

Question for the Swedes, Is there some other great punk/hardcore shit worth looking into? I am interested in checking some of it out :)

Gracias :)

Sure, I can't really place it within yer average punk sound, so hardcore it is. If it is good and ain't on the lame "modern-rock" radio stations, it has to fit somewhere good ;)

the weakerthans are 3/4 icelandic, does that count? even if it doesn't they're definately worth a listen. also on epitaph records.

Refused pretty much set the standard for the swedish hardcore scene, and beeing straight edge pretty much sparked the new vegan wave in sweden.

Well i recently bought me a new cd.

It's more Post hardcore but good nonetheless with melodic lead guitar.

If anyone knows the band (no it's now from sweden but it still good)

I'm talking about Alexisonfire

They rock and i recommend their cd or just a sample...

They have a video clip running on Much music and the French counterpart for Quebec (musique plus) and off the op of my head here are two tracks you could try to get

Alexisonfire - 44 cliber love letter (i really like that one)
&
Alexisonfire - Pulmonary Archery.

Speaking of Hardcore Shai hulud has a new cd out and it kicks ass ;)

I don't know that I would consider Fugazi or Hot Snakes hardcore, but those are two of my favorite bands. I just started listening to a lot of harcore again (my ex-wife hated the shit), but the some of the stuff I listen to in the metal/hardcore genre is:

Saetia
Shai Hulud
Uphill Battle
Spazz
Strongarm
Infest
Refused
Coalesce
Mastodon
Ensign
Botch

Speaking of Swedish Metal, why has no one mentioned Gates Of Ishtar, Duskfall or In Flames? They kick ass... My friend's also play in a band in Houston called Tanari. You guys should check them out, they're really good. They got some mp3's up on their site tanarimusic.com.

Spazz and Infest are so good! Do you like Drive like Jehu, Swiiter? I love hot snakes a lot too, though i only have the one cd. Fugazi rock my socks too...

PM me or something dude, i'll send you some songs of a local power violence band here called Skull Face and Others. So much fun.

Yeah Drive Like Jehu kicks major ass. That's cool you're into Spazz and Infest. My roomate's band just got signed to 625 Records (Max from Spazz's label). They're a kick ass grind band.
