Cheesey tech question

Post by Drustwyn »

Every time I exit EQ lately, it reboots my computer automatically before I get to the desktop... (who would think that getting to the desktop would be a problem for EQ) Any clues on what causes this and how I could fix it?

Running WinNT/2000/XP?

Most likely cause (if so) is that when you exit EQ your drivers are locking up (bluescreen) the computer and your machine is set to automatically reboot on a crash.

To disable that setting:

Start > Control Panels > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery (Settings) > uncheck Automatically Restart under System Failure

that's for xp anyway, not sure about NT/2000 =)

Yesh that worked.. now I just get a blue screen of death.

I reinstalled the brand new drivers and the video lag is horrendous in places where it was never bad before... If I go back two driver dates, it runs smoothly, but the blue screen comes back... BAH

I had this problem on one of my machines using w2k or XP. Check for bios updates for your motherboard. That fixed me right up. I think in my case it was a problem with how the OS interpreted the AGP slot on the motherboard.

Well if it bluescreens with the latest drivers and reboots with 2 rev old drivers, what about the drivers in between. :)
