Web Hosting

Post by Bubba Grizz »

I remember there being a post on the boards about this before but I am too lazy to do a search. I need to find a host that has no banners, ftp, tracking and the like and give a decent price per month. I know there are a lot out there but I'd like to hear from you guys as to what host you would recommend. I expect there to be a monthly fee but this is for personal web space and not commercial.

Myself I use http://www.paconline.net

I'm not sure if http://www.netnation.com is still around, but they were popular at one point.

http://www.phpwebhosting.com

That's who VV is hosted with. $9.95 a month. Can't beat it, really.

I use http://www.powweb.com.

If you pre-pay for a year, it costs $7.77 a month.

They allow you to connect to mySQL database (one-time setup-up fee for that). Web page encryption for free, E-mail addresses with your domain, allow you to use .php scripts, allow you to put just about any content you want, including your own pop-ups for your own income if you want, except for porn, use of cron to kick off your own shell scripts.

i own a domain that is hosted through http://www.linkline.com ... I got a price break for 10 bucks a month, which is always a good price hehe. We have had problems with them in the past, but it looks like they finally got their shit together. I wouldn't highly recommend them, but if you're just looking for personal web space to put stuff up in, it's banner/add free, has FTP capability, gives you up to 20 emails and stuff... we own http://www.3snip.com but might be changing hosting companies because we might end up starting our own business and would use our domain for commercial purposes. Take a look at Linkline and see what they got.

$9.95/month
pretty darn close to what phpwebhosting has to offer.
150MB, subdomains, site parking/mirror/redirect, php, cgi, sql, etc etc
