Think Bill Murray's Groundhog Day but the objective is to figure out how to defeat the alien enemy while dying each day.Summary: Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy. [Warner Bros. Pictures]
Best Tom Cruise movie since Risky Business. It's his best acting IMHO. It's an action movie, not a drama so it's not academy award stuff but he plays a solid character. There are some funny bits thrown in as he dies a shitload of times.
Edge of Tomorrow impressed way beyond my expectations. I give it a good rating on the "Sucks, Bad, Average, Good, Great" scale.
Cruise does a good job with a pretty basic plot. Special effects n stuff are good.
