Digital version of disk games

Post by Animalor »

Has anyone else bought any? I have AC4 Black Flag and Rayman Legends that I got on the Xbox One.

Rayman Legends is great. So much shit to do and great platforming.

Yeah, I got Rayman Legends, Tomb Raider and BF4 all digital. Rayman was an impulse buy, but it's definitely a lot of fun!

Have you looked at the Daily and Weekly challenges? The leaderboard and graphics they're doing is really cool. Classic Rayman Origins levels are also a really nice touch.

I buy the disc when there is a choice. Just old fashioned that way!

Yeah it is really cool! I was able to pull a silver on one of the daily challenges, and bronze on another so far. Some of them are damn tough!

I'm a disc based buyer unless I have no other choice, like XBL/PSN games. It gives me a lot more control over the media. I have lots of ways I like to play my media, with multiple TV setups, multiple consoles, and I also still lend out my games to a few select people. So, if I play a game on the 360 downstairs, I can take it upstairs and finish it there and let the kids have the media room or vice versa. It's the same reasons I don't every buy digital movies. If I have the disc, I can do tons more with it.

It would have to be a real particular situation for me to have digital only. Zelda Wind Waker is one. I don't know anyone else with a WiiU, and I wanted to be able to access it straight from the system. That's where digital only really shines IMO, but the cons outweigh the pros of never having to get up and manually swap a disc.

My Vita is entirely digital though. It's nice for a handheld device!

I don't intend on going all digital or anything, it just worked out that way with a few games. But I almost never borrow my games out anymore, only have one of each console, etc. There's really no downside other than saving space on the HDD - which almost doesn't matter since they make you install damn near the entire game even if you have the disc. Basically once the HDD fills up you just uninstall the shit you aren't currently playing. Aside from Battlefield any game I've downloaded has been ready to play in maybe 20 minutes at most, and Battlefield only took longer because I was trying to download it on release night.

I still need to find a good 1TB+ HDD for the PS4, I haven't looked lately because it's not too urgent yet, but I'd like to get it switched out before I'm running out of space.

Digital whenever possible. I did exchange my day one original PS4 Battlefield Disk for a Forza 5 Disk (best move ever!). Rest of my PS4/Xbox One games are digital.

Was playing some more Rayman Legends last night. God damn this is such a great game. I've done just about everything this game has to offer now. Capped off all the gold trophies last night and saved all the Teensies a few weeks ago.

The last thing I need to do now is get to 1 million Lums, unlock the last 2 characters and get to the highest level of awesomeness.

With all the game content and some time in the challenges, I'm at about 794k lums at the moment. I've never managed to land a platinum trophy in the challenges as those scale to the top 5% of player performances and the top of the leaderboards are full of crazy good platform players. I need to find out of I can look at some of those ghost runs as they usually end up doubling my best efforts.

Looking online though, it appears my only real option now is challenges for serious LUM gain. You get something in the order of 3k or 5k I believe for a gold in a challenge.

Most of my games were either free or heavily discounted on PSN.
