Dragon's Crown (PS3)

Post by Winnow »

This is Old School badassness.

The trailers for this game don't do it justice.

It's a 2D dungeon crawl lootfest at its finest with up to four players, with a great voice narrating the story.

Here's a run down of the strengths and weaknesses of the six characters:

Releases August 6th.

I'm buying this for couch co-op with my wife. She enjoys brawlers because of the simple control scheme and simplicity of the games themselves. Fight left to right, kill everything on the screen, advance.

Sounds like about 10-12ish hourz per playthrough per character.

Yeah I figured you'd have issues since you are such a fucking prude. For everyone else, it's a fun game to play. Go ahead with a long diatribe on women's rights and how babies were napalmed in Vietnam you fucking nut job.

calling me a prude is pretty fucking hilarious coming from a virgin who's ideal of a woman is a 15 year old with breasts where each one is larger than the rest of her torso.

Fantasize about whatever you want if it helps you cope with your useless life. Id probably do the same if all I was good for was mooching off others.

Mooching is an interesting descriptor for me. How much did you pay for this game?

It's a surprisingly fun brawler. I've only played about an hour with my Amazon, but I like what I've played so far. I couldn't play it for 100hrs like some of the fanatics are doing though.

It's a beautiful game, that's for sure!

I love that huge amazon ass. It reminds me of my wife :P

This one is 17.50 right now on for PS+ users for VITA or PS3. Worth it?

It got boring really fast. I'm glad I own it, but $40 was too much. I would suggest waiting for $10 or less, but that price is more than half off so it's not bad either.

You do the exact same thing over and over and over. It's like Diablo only the combat and loot system isn't nearly as fun. It's a good inbetweener game though. Good for a cooldown from more intense games.

Good to know. thanks for the heads up. I plan on getting it on the Vita but any portable game over 10$ I tend to put a lot more thought into.

Let me give more details to put it in better perspective.

It's not a character action game like Bayonetta, DMC, or Metal Gear: Rising. It is a straight up brawler ala Double Dragon, X-Men Arcade, TMNT, ect. There is a limited move set. You clear a screen of enemies and advance to the next screen full of enemies. Other than some trips to town to get supplies, quests, ect., that's all you do. Clear screen of enemies, advance.

It has really high production values though. It's the best brawler I've ever played.

Well my high bar for the genre is Castle Crashers. I also played quite a bit of Scott Pilgrim vs the World and that was really decent as well. Does it exceed those two?

I think so, yes. If you've played those two, you know just what you're in for :)

Ended up buying this for the PS+ price. Really enjoyable game. There's a ton of shit going on here too. Didn't expect so many mechanics in a side scrolling beat em up.

The art direction though.. Geez.. Seems like every female character in this game has over-emphasized tits or ass and the ones that aren't abnormally proportioned are lying on their backs spread eagle or half nude.

The only normal/tasteful female model is the elf/archer player character. And that's probably because she should be misconstrued for a minor.

However the team was for this game, there's some serious man-child issues in the lot.

The men are equally absurd. Why doesn't anyone seem to notice that?

I like the art just because it is unique and it makes me laugh.

Glad you're enjoying it!

The men aren't overtly sexualized though. They're just meaty. If you had a loincloth and testiclubs hanging out it would be a different issue though.

I don't have a particular problem with the art per say. I just won't be playing this game elsewhere than at home that's for sure.

You're right! The only reason I'm think this is slightly over-exaggerated much be because I love myself some cock.

I hate to go all Spang on you, but the men are completely oversexualized just like the females are in the game. The woman are boobs, butt, and legs. The men are pecks, abs, and the "V" shape. Each of the genders is maximized to appeal to the sexual preferences of the opposite. Woman are not attracted to a man's balls, therefore to accentuate them would not be conducive to the tropes the game is playing into. It's all borderline parody though, which makes it funny and whimsical to me.

Just sayn'!

I also would never play his in public, lol. The art style is definitely polarizing.
