Man of Steel

Post by Animalor »

Ho lee shit.. The really delivered with this. The editing was really well done to intersperse the growing up bits with the adult Superman to make a movie that kept me wrapped around it's little finger the whole time.

A believable cast and while I had my doubts about Cavill from the trailers, it appears those shots were taken at all his worst angles.

They probably took as few to many liberties as far as the purists are concerned but I f'ing loved it.

Highly Recommended

Critics are trashing it but the public seems to love it.

I'll try to make time next weekend to see it. If not, I'll buy it day 1 on Blu Ray 3D. I've never really been a huge Superman fan, but I like Snyder and Nolan.

I've learned not to put much weight into critics opinions, especially with game reviews. My favorite movie has a 34% review score so fuck them! There's too much personal preference that goes into movies for most of the reviews to be valid for a particular viewer.

Did I mention the purists earlier. Those guys are in a bit of an uproar because of the very end of the movie. I'm not going to mention it quite yet as it seems that not many people saw the flick yet but frankly, I thought it added a lot of depth and emotion to the scene and the character.

I was ok with it. Me and the old lady fucked up and saw it in IMAX 3D. The utilization of "shackey cam" the entire movie really puts the imax 3d screen in perpetual "only debris particles are in 3D"...so I would totally pass on the 3D viewing of this one.

I was not blown away by this movie. It was fine, and certainly better than the last superman movie, no doubt about it. The actors were great, and all fit the roles perfectly. The dialogue was good, etc etc. I thought the first hour was fantastic, though, that's for sure. Definitely a "big screen" summer movie. But overall, I would say the Batman movies were better.

I've heard the 2nd half of the movie referred as "destruction porn". I'd be pressed to agree with it but when you have characters that are this powerful going at it, stuff like that would happen. It did go on for what is probably a bit too long.

I saw it in imax 2d when I saw the option was available. Happy I did.

imax 2d is perfect for this movie, the way it was shot...tight angles, quick zooms out/in...and shackey cam.

Yeah, the destruction porn went on too long. That is probably the complaint I have. But its the only one. Like I said, good movie, just not great for me.

Something I didn't mention above, the sound effects were fantastic. Perfect, almost. I actually didn't notice the soundtrack itself, because the sound effects were so damn good.
