Unreal 2

I don't like it. It has really nice graphics but that's about it.
It adds nothing to the genre and it even takes away things that I expect to be staples by now; like multiplayer. Also, there's no decals or environment damage. When you shoot your machine gun at the wall there are no bullet holes or even little puffs where the bullets should be hitting. Glass doesn't even break when you fire at it; nothing happens. When you shoot a monster it just falls over and dies (but it does have a nice ragdoll animation for models).
Weapons are just standard crap. Pistol, machine gun, shottie, stupid thing that shoots balls of light, etc.
The cutscenes are pretty boring as well.
Also, there's no sense of linearity or accomplishment. All you do is land on a planet and kill everything under the pretense of "doing a mission" and then go to another planet and do it all over again, as opposed to the original Unreal where you just sort of woke up in the middle of a disaster and there was a linear progression of having to get from here to there.
Gameplay is boring and level design is weak. The entire game is basically walking into a room and killing everything and then walking into the next room.

The one thing I did find interesting in U2 were the missions where you got to place turrets, those were fun.. the game totally lacks locational damage, which takes pretty much any notion of skill out of it, and it lacks multiplay which are it's two biggest faults.. and it runs choppy as hell on a lot of systems.

There is a small amount of environment damage if you turn your settings up (bulletholes) , but it still sucks.
Loki's Minions CTF was the fucking bomb, probably the most fun I've ever had playing a computer game was in lmctf zipping around midair in the enemy's base with their flag, blowing would-be pursuers away from across the map with my power rune railgun... so many memories.

Aye Emmer those were the days I would play all night kicking ass with the Damage rune and railgun. I was amazing with the rail and the soundeffects you could put into the game ruled. My friends and I are thinking about starting a Q2LMCTF server just for fun.
