wrong number

Post by Boogahz »

Ever had someone call you more than once when they intended to call somewhere else? I think I remember my home phone number being a couple digits off from a clinic that performs several medical procedures. Yesterday, I had a woman call 2-3 times to make an appointment for a mammogram... She was SO sure she was calling the right place each time that I was tempted to call the right place to set the appointment up for her after the last call.

No, but I've been the one making the wrong calls.

Two guys named Danny C. in my phone. More than one time I've had to explain that I didn't mean to call him. Embarassing.

Something similar used to happen at my parents' house years ago. There was a busy doctor's office that had the same phone number as my folks, except the last two digits were transposed. They'd get a few calls a month from people wanting to set up appointments or looking for test results. Multiple calls from the same person wasn't unusual at all. The old guy finally retired, so they haven't had that problem in a several years.

I exchanged texts with an incorrect texter for weeks one time. That's worse than an incorrect phone number IMO.

When I got my house phone in college, I asked the phone company for the easiest number to remember. They gave me 662-3344. Unfortunately for me, the local cab company was something like 662-3355, Washtenaw Dairy ( a local-favorite ice cream shop that has a line around the block when it's warm) was 662-3244 and there must have been some modem/fax machine that also had a very similar number.

Our phone used to ring off the hook at all hours of the day with someone looking for a cab, someone looking for ice cream, or the beep of a modem/fax. It was awful, and probably the reason I was the first person I knew to switch over to only having a cell phone.

I used to get calls for Salome Bey all the time...
They were always so polite and friendly and some even wanted to chat after I told them they had the wrong number.

I get stray calls on my work Blackberry for lawsuits and other legal crap every now and again. Hope they didn't leave it at that and sent the correct party an email or letter! :D

My office line used to be a fax # for one of our security guys who supported South America, all kinds weird stuff came in the first few weeks I had it.

Bill collectors call the house line looking for I don't know who.
