Sandy Bridge is falling down

"There is at least as much need to curb the cruel greed and arrogance of part of the world of capital, to curb the cruel greed and violence of part of the world of labor, as to check a cruel and unhealthy militarism in international relationships." -Theodore Roosevelt

This is a really big deal. I imagine someone's head is going to roll over this.

Sandy Bridge is fine, cougar whatever is not. its the bridge chip (P67, H67) that's got the problem, not the cpu. the article is misleading, and clearly not researched, or it was done by a fan of a different brand perhaps. It affects 5 to 15% of the P67 and H67 boards sold. The 3G Sata ports are the problem, or should I say, COULD be a problem, 1+ years down the road. I agree with the article that its a catastrophe, but only because it will apparently will cost Intel 1billion dollars.

The problem is that your hard drive, or dvd rom, or whatever sata device will just not work one day. BUT, as soon as you plug it into a different sata port, it will be just fine. It doesn't damage the drive whatsoever. The 3G sata interface degrades in the chipset (north bridge if you will).

I don't think that article was done by a tech journalist....looks like a bean counter typed that one up, not knowing what he/she was talking about.
