This was another one yet to hit the theaters, but is available on Comcast's OnDemand. A ratty photojournalist is "encouraged" by his boss to escort his daughter back to the States after a recent alien monster attack that left her with an injured arm.
For the past 6 years, gigantic alien creatures have taken up residence in Mexico. They do not seem to like people too much either (regardless of citizenship).
This appears to be a relatively low budget film, but the bulk of money was for the creatures. Sadly, the script was pretty much devoid of suspense (and sense). For a monster flick, this had to be one of the most plodding and boring things I have watched in quite some time. I could not get into the characters, even though the chick was super-hot, imo.
I kept waiting and waiting for something interesting to happen, or to make sense of what the fuck the filmmakers were trying to convey. The movie then ended. Perhaps the message simply got lost in the editing...who knows?
3/10 for having a good idea but failing to capitalize.

Well, you basically took one for the team here. I've been debating checking it out with OnDemand as well. People seem pretty divided though. Now I'll just wait until it's in the cheapie bin!
Altitude is another movie I'm on the fence about. It just came out on DVD with mixed reviews.

Yeah, it seems that it gets a good amount of positive reviews as well. I'm thinking maybe people were so impressed with its ~100K budget they overlooked the fact that it really isn't a good movie.
Some elements that would have given a ton of depth were phoned in, big time. Even the obvious immigration irony element was ham-fisted. District 9 already hit on that, and well, but still...it ain't rocket surgery.
