Personally I consider myself a moderate, maybe a tad to the left as I try to keep an open mind and try to see both sides of things.

wow what a completely narrow sighted, blatantly predictable online quiz. never seen one of those before. they should just skip to the chase and put up a picture of that stupid graph and ask you to click where you think you lie.

here's my quiz:

Are you conservative? if you said yes, then you're a conservative!
Are you a liberal? if you said yes, then you're a liberal!

Gratz, here's a ridiculous diagram for you to go spam internet message boards with! (moron)

Do you think the Ten Commandments should be allowed to hang on the walls of federal buildings, such as in courthouses and public schools?
Look at this answer choice:
Yes, but only if they are included in a display with other documents from our history.
Uhh, since when are the Ten Commandments considered an American historical document?

Besides that, I don't think there is any way to get a Far-Left Liberal or Far-Right Conservative rating, unless you are a complete moron. No one is going to select an option that is overemotionalized when there is an option that expresses the same sentiment in a calm manner. For example, "Do you think the Ten Commandments should be allowed to hang on the walls of federal buildings, such as in courthouses and public schools?":
No! Don't those fundamentalist fanatics have anything better to do than attempt to indoctrinate others?
or
No. Religion is a matter of personal choice.
They both say the same thing, just different ways...

Go figure...I'm a moderate. Proud to be apathetic about some things, but will take others to the hilt.

That quiz is a pretty poor one. Trying to cram the entire politcal spectrum onto one right left line always struck me as ridiculous in the first place.

If you are looking for polical quizes, World's smallest political quiz got distributed around quite a bit. Still highly simplistic, but at least a 2d graph gives a little more room to plot political opinion, and at least the axes are something more definate than the vague political leftness or rightness.

Although Chmee's quiz is still relatively simplistic, I think it paints a better picture. It not only addresses twice the number of issues, but it asks a question without any type of emotional bias in the answers (yes/no/maybe vs references to rabid bible thumpers/sins against God and society). While politics do elicit emotional responses, I feel that is a tool of people who are insecure in their argument: where logic fails, emotion sways.

This whole thread reminds me of a class exercise I took in high school, where my responses left me as about half a step short of wearing a swastika on my arm... but I've mellowed with age :p

On the first one, it put me at Conservative. On the Chmee test, I was smack dab on the line between libertarian and conservative right wing which made me a centrist. Go figure.

The Libertarian Party commonly passes out the 'Chmee test' when pasing literature out. I am not sure if they were the ones that developed it though originally. They have been using it for years though. It works pretty good because it doesn't try and skew your beliefs away from questions like the other poll did.

The problem with the first test is also the inherent problem with the American political system today.

Look closely at the questions. You have no choice whatsoever for "get government the hell out of regulating this" you only have a choice as to HOW these issues should be regulated.

Thus, we have 2 political parties in America that argue over how to govern, regulate, monitor and tax/enslave the populace.

My score on Chmee's test came out the far top 100% Libertarian. And yes, I am a registered gun-nut, anti-drug laws anti government regulation and anti-tax Libertarian, though I refer to my beliefs as a "Constitutional Democrat".

My score on the first test - Liberal. So my guess is that the test is rigged.
