If they're socialists they're exceptionally bad at it.

Wow, you fail at being topical. This "discovery" is nearly a year old, and really wasn't even worth talking about back then. As others have said, the members of this list are worse at being socialists than you are at being anything other than a Chicken Little twit.

Re: I knew it!
If it wasn't so sad it'd be comical, it's like they've got an old sock labeled socialist and all they have to do is shake it in front of you and you'll start barking up a storm.
"Look boy, socialist, socialist! Get him!"
(While you're looking away I'll axe your employer provided health and retirement benefits then blame it on the evil demoncrats)
Now that they've got you conditioned they're going to throw it over a cliff come election time.

In an outstanding testament to the practical effect of gerrymandering only 2 lawmakers on that entire list are in danger of losing their seats according to Real Clear Politics. I find that pretty amazing in what is likely to be a strongly Republican wave election this year. I mean it's great work if you can get it. But somehow I don't see these folks representing the best interests of their constituents. C'mon, you all know that Socialism is sooooo YESTERDAY!Kilmoll the Sexy wrote: Hon. Re: I knew it!
Which of course brings to mind the topic of privatizing social security, a huge windfall for the investment\banking industry. That coupled with the desire to deregulate everything is a sure recipe for disaster.
Think of where our seniors and disabled would be today had that gone through. Not all of them depend on it, some do.
Reagan era trickle down policy can work, but you've got to maintain a regulatory framework to prevent the people (who are the whole point of this deal) getting screwed by corporate interests
The same ones who are pumping millions into DC every day to buy the rules they want I might add. Or are they just doing it to be nice?
The KillMolls and Metanii are really missing the point.
*Edit - I don't disagree with moderate conservatism, in theory. It doesn't exist in today's political world.

Oh sure, I use that sucker to light my Cuban cigars earned on the backs of the downtrodden worker classes. They're too busy praying to Obama to notice me picking their pockets.Zaelath wrote:Can I assume you tear up your old age pension check every month?Metanis wrote:In an outstanding testament to the practical effect of gerrymandering only 2 lawmakers on that entire list are in danger of losing their seats according to Real Clear Politics. Re: I knew it!
You bitch about gerrymandering as if it's only Dems locked into secure districts. There are more than a fair share of repugs that also have their nice little rich, white, white collar middle-class and higher districts locked up tighter than your closed mind. At the height of voter's disapproval of repugs, they safely won reelection. Even Michele Bachmann was safe from her own stupidity/insanity/self-destructiveness due to her district's composition.

The entire state of Texas is set up like this, though redistricting comes up next year in the state lege! Last time it happened, the Dems got so pissed they actually fled the state to try to block passage. I think police had to intervene to get them to come back. The Reps won in the end, and TX has been bright red ever since.
