The 30 Best TV Shows of the 2000s

Post by Sylvus »

This is a pretty solid list. While I haven't watched a few of the shows on it, I don't think I can argue with the inclusion of anything there. Take a look.

http://www.avclub.com/articles/the-best ... s,35256/2/

It lists The Wire as #1, so you know that the people who compiled the list know what they're doing.

Can someone post the list? I saw Firefly at #17.

Where's Deadwood? Better be fucking high or those cocksuckers don't know what they're doing.

HBO dominates as expected but it would have been nice to see HBO's ROME series on the list. Otherwise it's an impressive list and doesn't seem influenced by the usual forces that warp the results on these things. It's nice to see Breaking Bad so high as well.

They should've just done a top 10. With 30, you're going to hit almost every major and semi major hit out there, leaving little to discuss other than possibly ranking.

I've only watched at least one episode of only three of the shows on the list. Scrubs should be on that list.

The inclusion of:

20. Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! (Cartoon Network, 2007-present)

invalidates the entire list.

What he said plus the simple fact that Family Guy isn't even on that list invalidates it.

I think American Dad is so much better than Family Guy!

I personally wouldn't put about half of that list in the top 100 list, let alone 30.. Plus there are a handful that should most certainly be there, especially over retarded shows like The Office. Some pretty solid choices amongst the others though.

My girlfriend got me hooked on How I Met Your Mother a few weeks ago. We are just about to finish Season 1 (this is her second time around with series). I think it is fucking brilliant for the most part! Hot chicks, great dialogue and super-awesome comedy from Neil Patrick Harris!

Love it!

I am going to try Firefly on her soon.

The first couple seasons of that show were great, I find it pretty disappointing this year. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Why would it be? I watch it and it has its moments but I definitely wouldn't place it in the top 30 shows of the previous decade.

While most lists are subjective I pretty much disagree with the inclusion of Eastbound & Down as it only had, so far, one season consisting of 6 episodes. While it was entertaining I don't think that was enough time or episodes to place it in the 'Best' category unless all the rest of the shows to choose from were reality TV or something.

It's also interesting how only one BBC, or 'foreign' show in general, made it. Was it included just because everyone knows the US version? There's a lot of other shows made overseas that are good. Top Gear for example is usually always entertaining and worth a watch.

Eastbound and down was fucking retarded! Rednecks are only funny to laugh at, not laugh with.

Because you simply can't go wrong quoting IASiP.

I'm a lot more surprised South Park didn't make the list. Futurama is better in a traditional sense, but South Park pokes holes in pop culture better than anything else on television.

It may have been only one year and a short series, but Band of Brothers should have still made the top 10.

I'd say so. I watched it like 4 times. Isn't the Pacific WWII followup slated still?
