Re: Brutal Legend
Stuff that Tim Shefer has worked on in his career.
* 1987 Maniac Mansion, tools programmer, SCUMM (LucasArts)
* 1990 The Secret of Monkey Island, co-writer (LucasArts)
* 1991 Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, co-designer, co-writer (LucasArts)
* 1993 Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle, co-designer, co-producer, co-director, co-writer (LucasArts)
* 1995 Full Throttle, writer, designer, project leader (LucasArts)
* 1998 Grim Fandango, project leader, writer, designer (LucasArts)
* 2005 Psychonauts, creative director, co-writer, designer (Double Fine, Majesco)
* 2009 Brütal Legend, (Double Fine, Electronic Arts)
Needless to say his stuff is day 1 purchases for me. I don't think there's another developer where I had played ALL of their games without even realizing it. (I looked him up after I played through Psychonauts.)

Re: Brutal Legend
This has moved off of my must buy list onto my "I might buy it later" list. I might still get it, I'm just not all that interested. And Jack Black annoys the living shit out of me.

Re: Brutal Legend
The demo really sealed the deal for me. The graphics were far from the greatest I have ever seen, but the overall vision is spectacular.
It's my understanding that there are several different types of gameplay involved in the game. The demo was a straight up hack n slash, but later you have an Overloard-type of gameplay where you control minions. Then there is the almost RTS style of multiplayer which I assume will also appear somehow in the main game.

Re: Brutal Legend
The DLC for this is going to be free for 2 weeks after it's launch date on the PSN.

This may have swayed my purchase decision since I haven't gotten the game yet.
The DLC will be priced 400 points on XBL and 5$ on the PSN

Re: Brutal Legend
I wasn't really interested in this game... But it's currently $20 at NewEgg for PS3 and 360 versions. Not sure if that will be new retail price or not since it didn't sell very well but I think I might get it. For 20 bucks how bad can it be?

For 20 bucks you can't really go wrong with this game. I had a lot of fun playing it. It wasn't what I expected but I still had fun playing it.

Re: Brutal Legend
4 months later and it's already bargain bin... This is why any game will seldom be a day-one purchase for me.

Re: Brutal Legend
I think it hit the bargain bin so fast because the appeal of the subject matter is way too narrow.
I won't pick it up simply because I really dislike heavy metal.

Re: Brutal Legend
Well while not every game will be bargain bin in 4 months a lot of them are generally cheaper to come by. Even something like Assassin's Creed 2 can be had for under $40 these days. I can live without playing a game for a few months if it means savings!

Re: Brutal Legend
Are you just now realizing this trend? Really?
Re: Brutal Legend
Yes. I am just now realizing it. Thanks Jack Black for making it all so fucking clear to me.

Re: Brutal Legend
You can save a lot more than that!
I've been a little bummed out about the lack of scanned Strategy Game guides lately. Never saw one for Borderlands which would have been cool even though I already beat the game on handicapped settings.
None for Bayonetta either. Last one I saw was CoD

It's a pretty average game and places like futureshop and bestbuy ordered (and still have) a metric fuckton of copies.
They should start dumping it for less than $10 in a couple of months.
