I haven't put it in yet. My wife decided she wants to play through that game with me so I'm waiting for the weekend to try it out.

It's just like all the other games like Ultimate Alliance 1 and X-men Legends 1 and 2. It's a topdown action game. They all have the same basic controls, like A = light attack, B=heavy attack, Y= Jump, and you can chain combos together. Of course, every hero has thier own set of multiple powers and stats. You have a team of 4 heros to control, level, and equip with loot. The loot system is pretty bare bones, consisting of 1 or 2 slots at best. The games give lots of fan service in the form of extras like comic, background info, and alternate costumes.

I liked the first UA game. It's my understanding that this one has much better graphics but some of the elements are downplayed, like the insane level of fan service and there aren't nearly as many unlockable costumes. I think the overall number of powers per character have been reduced too. I've heard from many sources that the story is much better though. It takes place over during the Civil War storyline.

The big draw on this one is that you can fuse character powers together to form super duper powers that have a wide range of effects. Trying out different team configurations in order to see the fusions is one of the main reasons I'm getting it. Plus, it's pretty simple gameplay and that is a nice change of pace once in awhile.

Here are the playable characters:

Captain America
Daredevil
Deadpool
Gambit
Green Goblin
Hulk
Human Torch
Iceman
Invisible Woman
Iron Fist
Iron Man
Jean Grey
Luke Cage
Mister Fantastic
Ms. Marvel
Nick Fury
Penance
Songbird
Spider-Man
Storm
Thing
Thor
Venom
Wolverine
Blade - Wii, PSP, PS exclusive
Cyclops - Wii, PSP, PS exlusive
Juggernaut - EB Preorder exclusive
Psylocke - Wii, PSP, PS exlusive
Sentry - DS only
She-Hulk - DS only

I hate all the exclusive bullshit. You can also count on DLC packs of more heros to play.

For some wierd reason, there isn't rumble on the PS3 version. I've been reading that the load times are a bit longer as well but it's negligable.

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit actually. I'll probably end up playing both sides of the story, hopefully with some multiplayer.

I just realised that I hadn't answered your question Miir.

The game is essentially a top-down diablo-type experience with Marvel Characters. You get to put together a team of 4 characters from the marvel universe. The characters level up, expand their abilities and essentially become more badass as the game progresses.

The game also features multiplayer co-op through the story.

The MUA2 story centers around the events of the Secret War/Civil War storylines that were in the books last year.

If you have a character that's a poor fit for a certain battle, you can change our heros at any time to one that fits the situation better. (Having Iceman in your group in a scenario with lots of fire is a prime example).

I had never played the first of X-Men Legends before. Picked this one up as an impulse. There's a lot of stuff to do and a lot of unlockables.

Of all the characters I've played up till now, Storm and Wolverine are probably my favorites. Wolverine can tear crap up pretty freaking fast.

I thought X-Men Legends was awesome and played the shit out of it, along with COOP with a friend.

If you've never played an X-Men Legends or Ultimate Alliance game, you'll enjoy the experience although if you've played the other games in the series, you'll definitely get a "more of the same" feeling to this.

I started playing it but couldn't get into it....although again, I thought the first in the series (X-Men Legends I) was awesome and I would have thought the same of this one if it was a new experience. Kinda got the button smashing blues with it though.

Sp I picked it up and overall I think it's pretty fun, but the dark areas are just way too fucking dark. It's so bad that in some areas I'm just throwing punches trying to find crates or enemies. The center of the areas are well lit but the edges are just like pitch black soup. I had the same problem with Killzone 2. Every other game I've played, even Arkham Asylum which is a totally dark game are just fine.

I really hope the game gets brighter because if the whole thing is dark like that, I'll be pretty pissed off.

There are some nice bright areas later on that are better. I had to mess with the gamma in the game as well as some auto-calibrating settings on my TV to see properly but once I got that out of the way it was much improved.

Yesterday I went to the Gamestop Juggernaut redemption site, put in a random 10 digit receipt code, gave them a fake name and my hotmail address and lo and behold I just recieved my redemtion code :)

I suggest everyone that has Ultimate Alliance 2 to do this right fucking now before Gamespot catches on. It works for all consoles.

I installed the game to both of my 360 HDs, activated my Jugger code, and unlocked the Hulk on both machines in preperation to play this weekend.

I went ahead and played maybe 10 minutes of it. Such a big improvement over the previous edition! I was very impressed even with such a short exposure. It seems like a lot of polish and small details were made to improve the basic concept by a rather significant degree. I like this interface and camera views a lot more. If you don't recall, I just finished the first Ultimate Alliance about a month ago, so it is still fresh in my mind.

I played an hour or 2 last night with the wife. The game is a significant step above the last one. The medal system adds a nice bit of depth to the gameplay. I tried out Juggy and was like "fuck, his abilities are so overpowered". Then I tried Storm and said the same thing. Repeat for almost every character I played. That's not a bad thing at all. It's nice to see your heros kick some serious ass.

Pre ordering it just to get Juggernaut, pity i didnt check VV earlier! =D

Yes we get it a lil later here in Sweden.

Jugger, Hulk, Thing and Thor feels like a capable team.

Might switch out Thor for Venom, so the Horrible Four have more consistency in their pretty looks-department.

Green Gob and Penance also seem interesting.

I've been playing it on Legendary last night and played a lot of Capt. America as I'm working thorugh fusions and unlocks. I didn't like him originally but he's quite the badass.

A decent set of achievements/trophies in this one.

There's a ridiculous amount of stuff in this game.
I spent nearly 2 hours last night reading dossiers, looking at concept art, listening to sound clips, playing trivia, etc.

Things are rather dark for me.. Even with the gamma turned all the way up.

And for a superhero.. why do I have to punch a crate 8 times before it breaks? God I hate those crates! Best one for those seems to be Iron Man since he can just shoot laser beams from his eyes.

It does get brighter.
When you power up your superheroes it gets easier for them to break crates.

When the hell did Scorpion get the Venom symbiote??? I knew there had been come changes in the host but I never knew that he had bonded with it.

I wonder how much of the back catalog of marvel stuff will be made available on the PSP once that feature goes live.

There's some missions I just can't find tokens or whatever even after doing them a few times. Most annoying!

Anyway, I find myself using Daredevil a lot . The bolas are a good range weapon especially when you upgrade and get 3 or 4 of them and he can do the spin thing and hit a lot of crates/enemies at once. The other one I use is Deadpool since other than Wolverine he's the only other character that regenerates hit points so when I get in trouble I just run in circles for awhile. Also his ability to teleport and drop some bombs on a target then port away is pretty handy.

Also some of the boss battles are tedious. Tinkerer I thought was bad.. Then I got to Nick Fury. I thought that was more boring than challenging. I was like god.. Just get it over with already! Oh.. And the map is a bit lacking.

Other than that this game was pretty much what I was expecting. Which is basically just a mindless hack and slash. Which isn't a bad thing. I think the last h&s I played was the previous version of this game on the PSP.

Picked this up today. Wish I'd seen the Juggernaut trick when it was posted, I hate not having all the content available to me. Getting sick and tired of the pre-order shit. I'm fine with them making incentives to buy it new rather than used, but blocking stuff out if you didn't pre-order is silly.

Anyone have a spare code kicking around? :/

The character pack was only available until the end of 2009 due to the Disney buyout of Marvel. That means that if you have this character pack, you cannot play online with someone who doesn't have it unless you delete your DLC (since they cannot buy it). I was going to play this online with a friend of mine, but he clued me in on how fucked it is. He didn't buy it until a couple of weeks ago, so no DLC for him!

On a complete whim, I went ahead and beat this game tonight. It's less than half as long as the first one, but I didn't mind that at all. I unlocked all characters, and that gives you great variety in creating your teams and fusions. A couple of the characters felt pretty overpowered. After the credits, you unlock the last character and Legendary mode. You can carry all your characters and stats into a new and harder game mode. I'll do that sometime and try out the pro-registration side of things.

The story is based on the Civil War storyline, but took a left turn during the last 3rd of the game and didn't really have jack to do with that story by the end.

Good game. If you see it for 25$ or less, get it.
