12V Triggers

Post by Canelek »

Howdy,

My receiver has a 12V trigger out amongst the multi-zone triggers. Since I have no idea how this shit works, my goal is to have the subwoofer power off when I power off the receiver. I found a mini-phono -> mini-phono cable and plugged that in.

Now, is this something I have to program into the remote/receiver or should it be an automatic thing? The Sony manual is pretty vague to me, since my new gear is waaaay over my head. I also didn't see anything in the subwoofer manual aside from a simple diagram.

Equipment in question:

Home Theater Receiver: Sony STR-DA5400ES
Subwoofer: Monitor Audio R370HD

Thanks!

Yea, the OSD in the sony should have some configuration settings for the 12v triggers.... but your sub should go into a power save mode when it isn't receiving a signal. Either way, both receivers and subs are going to be power gremlins.

Also the subs manual should offer some help as to what the 12v trigger can do... for some subs it is used for presets for sound modes.
