So I went to watch an episode of a show I downloaded last night, when the noise on my headphones went all fucked up. I could hear all the background noises, but the characters talking sounded all distorted, almost as if I was hearing it through water, and barely audible. I figured it was just a bad encoding, but then I went into WoW and was having similar problems. I was trying to fish and couldn't hear any of the sounds specific to my character, the music was all distorted, but the sound of other people around me fishing was perfectly fine.
I'm guessing it's a problem with my headphones even tho I didn't jerk them or do anything to them to make it occur in the time it did. I pipe the sound through my stereo and shit sounds perfectly fine. I only ask here in case there's something weird that could have happened in Windows that is causing this and will save me the 20$ or whatever for new headphones.

Re: Headphones problem
Try them with another device.
EDIT (as in, a 3rd and even 4th device)

Re: Headphones problem
Also, try different jacks on the same PC (if you have them), and different headphones on the PC.
