Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded

Post by Hesten »

I found this game almost by accident, was logging into Steam to check something, and there was an ad for it, and looked interesting, so checked it out a bit, then DLed it to try it out. And after having completed it once, ill have to buy it and play it again, since its just great simple fun.

Its a fairly simple game, just a isometric 3d shooter, think back to the good old Crusader - No Remorse and Crusader - No Regret days, when shooting stuff could be fun :).
There is a just about non-existing story about alien invaders, and it dont really matter. Its kind of a mix between Diablo and Crusader, since you get some LIGHT RPG elements, but its really just a "improve stats, but next gun" thing, not that many weapons to choose from. But still enough to make it interesting.

The fighting itself are fast paced and fun. At the start, you get off easy with 63 aliens on the first level, but on the later levels, 2000+ aliens pr level, many with fun stuff like acid that stay on the ground and make puddles that hurt, homing missiles, and other nasty stuff are common. The graphics are not perfect, a little oldschool, but dont matter imo, it just make the game a little more fun. You WILL see lots of blood and gore, when you splat a 200+ wave of aliens with a shotgun, the blood and gore left over will stay, and the formerly grey floors will be green, red and whatever colour happens to be the aliens :).

Give it a shot, you can DL a demo at Steam, at other stores it might be called Alien Shooter - Vengeance.

Gamespot gave it a 7.5, can read the review and see pics here:

Are those in-game NPC's or can you play this with other people? I saw it on Steam and I could have sworn it said it was single player.
Hijoputa 80 DK - Undermine
Psyloche 80 Rogue - Hyjal
Baaka 80 Paladin - Hyjal
Churrasco 70 Tauren Warrior - Firetree
Rennard 70 UD Priest - Firetree
Sinjin617 - Ogame.org (More or less Retired)
Seithyr 70 Monk - Veeshan (Retired)
Psyloche Wenusberg 70 Rogue - Veeshan (Retired)

Ingame NPCs.

And after buying it on Steam and playing the first 2 levels, i must admit ill reccomend buying/DLing Alien Shooter - Vengeance instead.
It looks like Alien Shooter 2 Reloaded are severely dumbed down (possible to fit the average Steam user? :D),
They removed all the weapon skills, all they require are the main stats now.
The implant slot are down from 3 to 1, but might be story driven.
Ammo dont take inventory space, but are not fairly limited to the number of bullets you can carry. At the last battle in the Vengeance one, i had like 10000 shots for my shotgun and plasma minigun, at the moment i can have 950 bullets for my shotgun :(

Ahh, checked the forums out, seems like Alien Shooter - Vengeance was removed due to a royalty problem from outsourced developer, and the team that made Alien Shooter 2 made a reloaded version with a few more missions, some fixes, and some slimming down.
