Che's granddaughter exploits him

Post by Aabidano »

By mistake, Unclyclopedia posts a reasonably accurate, factual article:
Havana, Cuba - A nation mourns today, upon hearing the news that the granddaughter of beloved freedom fighter Che Guevara has decided to spit upon his memory by exploiting his name to assist the spoiled rich.

Lydia Guevara has apparently agreed to appear nude, though with a "bandolier" made up of carrots, on behalf of PETA. PETA is an organization that has not been believed to be real by Cuba, Central America and South America, as those people have real problems to deal with involving infant mortality, disease, making a living, surviving revolutions, winning possession of a rat carcass at the local dump, avoiding drug lords, etc.
Link is at Unclyopedia, possibly not the best site to visit from work:

I can only imagine how much good PETA would be doing if it were focused more humanitarian aid, and less on helping squirrels and shit. Helping animals is good and all, but some of these people are god damn fanatical, and the amount of WASPY asshole rich people (and celebrities) that donate money to PETA and think they're making some vast difference in the world make me want to kill animals.

I also despise how reactionary and petty PETA is. The below article is merely an example. The fact that PETA's bullshit and inane reaction to Obama swatting a fly even makes the news just annoys the piss out of me though.
WASHINGTON – The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he’s bedeviled by a fly in the White House.

PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.

“We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals,” PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. “We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals.”

During an interview for CNBC at the White House on Tuesday, a fly intruded on Obama’s conversation with correspondent John Harwood.

“Get out of here,” the president told the pesky insect. When it didn’t, he waited for the fly to settle, put his hand up and then smacked it dead.

“Now, where were we?” Obama asked Harwood. Then he added: “That was pretty impressive, wasn’t it? I got the sucker.”

Friedrich said that PETA was pleased with Obama’s voting record in the Senate on behalf of animal rights and noted that he has been outspoken against animal abuses.

Still, “swatting a fly on TV indicates he’s not perfect,” Friedrich said, “and we’re happy to say that we wish he hadn’t.”

Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said the White House had no comment on the matter.

I think they'd be doing terrible if they used a more responsible strategy. Their success as an organization is based around being shocking and making news. There's plenty of legit animal rights organizations that don't receive a fraction of the support of PETA because they don't play the media in the same scummy way.
