Weeds Season 5

Post by Funkmasterr »

Anyone else watch the premiere? We got Showtime just so we can watch this show, and I'm glad we did!
[Show]
I have to say, I'm almost hoping that Nancy has some kind of issue and the baby doesn't make it, or Cesar dies or something, cause he's a fucking toolbag! It was really funny to see how the kids in the show had aged noticeably since the last episode, too
Looking forward to the rest of the season!

Another good one last night, but Esteban really needs to go. I hope they don't take the whole season to get rid of him, but it's never taken Nancy that long to get rid of any of the others in the past so I have high (lol) hopes.

I never made it all the way through last season. I should add them to my Netflix queue and give season 4 another shot. To me, moving the show out of Agrestic and especially the loss of Conrad and Heylia (and the grow houses) as regulars took a lot out of the show. I touched on this in the other Weeds thread in the past, but I don't know what it is about this show that it struggles to hold my attention at times. It's weird because I really do like the show's concept and characters. I think sometimes Jenji Khohan tries to get too cute with the writing perhaps. Last season, I don't think it was entirely the show's fault as we moved about 2/3 of the way through the season, and with all the new house activities, I just wasn't enthralled enough to keep up with the show.

Yeah I found myself not caring about a new season. I barely made it through #4.

Ok... I watched the last 5 episodes that I missed from last season. I haven't started on s5 yet. I think I've figured out what my problem with this show is. I seem to enjoy it a lot more when I can watch 2 or 3 episodes at a time without having to wait a week for Sho to air the next episode. I actually enjoyed the last part of last season. I think I'm just going to sit on the rest of season 5 and watch 'em all over a few nights.

Yeah 30 minutes is short, I really wish it was an hour long.

I almost always wait until I have at least a couple episodes, of almost any show, recorded on my dvr before I start watching. I made the mistake of watching the first episode of this season streaming from Netflix before the second was on, and I could've kicked myself for doing so. I think that this, and Nurse Jackie, is going to be difficult for me to wait until multiple episodes are available this season.

I am almost caught up. I think I am on like S5Ep5.

I didn't even realize Conrad, et al were gone. I agree regarding Esteban and Cesar.

However, I like the dynamic between Shane and the thug (who's name I forgot).

And yes, Kevin Nealon is still awesome!

I've ended up keeping up with this season for the most part (I got a couple episodes behind about midway through). I'm enjoying the season so far.

Spoilering the rest of this since you're not caught up completely...
[Show]
I'm still not a huge fan of Esteban, but Cesar has grown on me a lot. The turning point for me with Cesar was after the failed hit attempt on Nancy. Cesar begging Shane not to tell anyone that he was a nurse, and the bit with Nancy shooting him was pretty good and made him a bit more likable and interesting. I like the dynamic between Shane and Ignacio, too, at least until he crossed the line and scared Shane away. Shane behavior has been amusing since he got shot., too. Esteban getting arrested for corruption will be interesting, and I'm anxious to see how the Nancy v. Pilar tangle unwinds. It will be good to see more of Guillermo once he's on the loose. I'm fond of that character, and have been somewhat disappointed that he's been mostly absent from this season.

I have been paying for SHO at my apt so that I could watch this, and I haven't been living there so I have missed out on all but the first two episodes this season :(

I am gonna grab them off of demonoid sometime soon though and catch up, I miss this show!

Im glad that this season has been going back to more comedy and less feeling sorry for people. Worth watching again.
[Show]
Esteban's crew has some of the best lines and Cesar continues to surprise me. His speech about being married and having 3 kids while in the elevator was hilarious. Shane seems to be going down an interesting path. I love the Dean and Doug chemistry this season as well. I do wonder where they are going to go with this. From Esteban being back on the ticket to Celia basically running the drug business now, seems like they opened the door for another big change in the show.

I just watched S1 on Netflix, and it was awesome. I can't wait to catch up on the other 4.
