And now for something wonderfully unhealthy - Bacorn!

Post by pyrella »

Bacorn!

My mom used to make this when I'd go up and visit before she moved out of state...I think she may be on the run from the nutrition cops

Ingredients:

Bacorn
Corn on cob with silk/husk still on
Bacon

Heart Attack Sauce
1/4 cup bacon grease
1/2 lb butter
1/2 cup vinegar (plain white works, apple cider works)
diced onion
1 pc of bacon

Peel back husk/silk of corn - wrap from bottom to top with bacon (usually 1.5-2 pc's) and re-cover with silk/husk. Take foil, and if open flame grilling just cover top of cob to keep the husk closed - if baking, wrap entire corn in foil loosely (you want it to be able to drain a bit from itself, silk/husk wick most of the fat away). Grill 35-40 mins or till done, Bake@350 approx 45 mins, open foil a bit and bake 10 more or so.

Once you get your Bacorn in your cooking device of choice, combine heart attack sauce ingredients in small sauce pan, and just let it keep simmering until the corn is finished. I tend to throw a couple splashes more of vinegar near the end as it has mostly cooked out - but taste to see what you want.

When corn is done, remove husk/silk and toss. I usually remove the bacon. Cut cobs in half and spoon sauce on top and serve! Watch guests take their empty cobs to soak up the left over sauce and cackle madly.

You can take the bacon from the corn and crisp it in a pan (takes about 30 seconds for both sides as it's mostly drained of fat), but others have suggested a quick broil or rolling it in a pan for crisping it up. Corn tastes like bacon - bacon taste like corn....IT'S BACORN

if you were walking around and you came upon a tulip with tits, would you let it be for the rest of the world to enjoy.. or would you pick it and carry it off to a secluded area to motorboat them?

Oh my god, I think I'll make this and die happy.

Two of my favorite foods, sweet corn, and bacon - in one!

Thanks PY.

I am probably going to grill when I get home. I was going back to this thread to link it to the wife, since I had 3 pieces of corn I wanted to toss on the grill and figured... hey why not. When I was looking at the picture, my chest started hurting.

I still want to try this :(
