Lame, I was just going to post that! Oh well here's the same one on YouTube for all you YouTube junkies!
The snowmobile ones I'm sure will me annoying on Veteran. Almost all the vehicle ones are since you can't aim for crap and you can only take 2-3 hits before you're dead.
Having said that... I hope the single player campaign will be longer than what was in CoD:MW1.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
I know COD4 Online Multiplayer is generally regarded as an inferior / boring online FPS, but it's pretty much what all of my friends and I play, so we're all really looking forward to this (we play on the PC by the way, not the 360 or ps3). It's the only FPS we could all universally agree on, since some of them despise Counterstrike, and we're all too poor to play and try out a bunch of other shit
.
I share Aslanna's hopes that the single player will be a bit longer, although I did find COD4's single player to be thoroughly engaging.

Inferior and boring? I am not sure who says that but they must be crackified. I would not be opposed to them having done some things different, but that has not stopped me from putting in 24 days of online PvP. 27,xxx in the world in kills!

Re: Modern Warfare 2
I wasn't real impressed with CoD's multiplayer either. The leveling system is ok, but going into elite mode was 150% pointless unless a different icon for dick waving is important to you - so really you could get to max rank pretty quick.
I find Gears of War 1&2 and Killzone 2 both to be far superior in pretty much every way to any of the CoD games.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
main problem with COD multiplayer, in my mind, is that every game mode is just a glorified free-for-all deathmatch. theres zero interaction with team-mates in the other modes and its all just a fast action clusterfuck. to put it a simpler way, theres no depth to it. its only fun in the long term if you are a hardcore god like me that finds enjoyment in mindless slaughter
rank is pointless. you get to rank 55 in like a day unless you suck
the gold plated shotgun was my CoD4 unicorn. and now that I have it I rarely play... its fun to waste 30 minutes or so on raping nubs.

Yeah I forgot to mention that - One of the main reasons why I find the games I listed superior to CoD is because in those games, either because design forces it or the players choose to do so, people play as a team at least for the most part. In CoD everyone does their own thing in every game mode, every time - which defeats the entire purpose.cadalano wrote:main problem with COD multiplayer, in my mind, is that every game mode is just a glorified free-for-all deathmatch. theres zero interaction with team-mates in the other modes and its all just a fast action clusterfuck. its only fun in the long term if you are a hardcore god like me

Well....not really to both of you. We have a group of folks who tend to play on the weekends together with anywhere from 2-8 of us playing any given time. Pretty much only play Domination which actually requires people working together to be effective. I absolutely abhor deathmatches and pretty much refuse to play them. For that matter, I suck at them because I can't sit and camp a spot like some fuckwad cherry. Domination...when everyone is doing there role....we put up ridiculous numbers because we know how the other people play it and if someone goes down, we know where to look to pop someone trying to come through. I think that is the thing that makes it still fun to me.
I never did prestige all the way through. What the hell is the point?

Re: Modern Warfare 2
domination "requires" as much teamwork as any other team mode. you just have some people that go stand in a location long enough to capture flags. in the end all that matters is who is better at the deathmatch aspect of it.
I mean, your example of teamwork is one guy dying which then signals to the others that a dude over there just killed him and someone should be ready to kill the dude. I really don't consider that to be team oriented gameplay.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
There really is more to it than that if you are trying to win the matches. yes you have to be good at killing...which is really the point of any FPS in that genre. Now if youjust don't care about winning matches AND you suck at killing, then you have no reason to play at all. We have been outkilled by enormous margins and won. We have outkilled people by enormous margins and lost. So there really is a little more to it than deathmatch.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
All very true. Granted, the PC experience is probably different from console, especially since VERY VERY few people use the shitty in-game voice comm thing, but unless you play with a dedicated group of friends or are in a clan, playing any kind of cooperative game mode boils down to nothing more than retards running around trying to get headshots while 4 or 5 people on each side actually attempt to win the match.cadalano wrote:main problem with COD multiplayer, in my mind, is that every game mode is just a glorified free-for-all deathmatch. theres zero interaction with team-mates in the other modes and its all just a fast action clusterfuck. to put it a simpler way, theres no depth to it. its only fun in the long term if you are a hardcore god like me that finds enjoyment in mindless slaughter

I still think it's pretty fun, and the fact that I actually do play with a dedicated group of friends probably helps

We play deathmatch mostly, I'll be honest, because we probably all suck giant dicks. It's still good fun. Will have to try domination some more though

The game sometimes gets boring. That's when you do stupid shit to keep yourself entertained. Like using a Barret on a really shitty sniping map, or making a kit that involves doing nothing but using RPGs.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
Interesting. All in all, I would rather have 60fps for a shooter over the increased graphics, but it's still disappointing.Modern Warfare 2 will sport a resolution of 600p like its predecessor.
Infinity Ward once again justifies a sub-HD video game during a high definition console era with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
The resolution, which is 1024 by 600 pixels, has been confirmed by the pixel counters on the Beyond3D technical forums, who recently brought us the resolution of Ghostbusters: The Video Game on the PlayStation 3. Like its predecessor, Modern Warfare 2 will be 600p on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Modern Warfare 2's native rendering resolution will result in 307,200 pixels less than if it was running at the high-definition 720p.
The question is whether this matters for Infinity Ward's upcoming game? Unlike Ghostbusters, Modern Warfare 2 will be an extremely impressive game both graphically and in its framerate; Infinity Ward is again targeting 60 frames-per-second, when most graphically impressive video games struggle to hit 30 frames-per-second.
A sub-HD rendering resolution is surely a compromise worth taking considering the benefits?
Btw, check out the multi-player footage. DO WANT!

I honestly thought IW would just rest on thier laurels as far as multiplayer (since CoD4 was such a huge success), but it seems they're really working to innovate once again and take things to the next level.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
CoD4's strong suit was the multiplayer yes, but i really enjoyed their campaign mode as well. I heard they are trying to make an incredible campaign experience this time, and i don't doubt they will. With all this focus on single player i do worry a little about things lacking from multiplayer. I don't remember if IW had their hands involved with World at War, but i really hated that multiplayer. Im hoping for a revert back to CoD4 smoothness and map architecture. If they have to sacrifice HD to make it a kickass game with high FPS in multiplayer, i will still be very satisfied.
Edit: Wanted to add that i have played out CoD4 and am desperate for a solid realistic FPS on the 360. Been playing Battlefield 1943 but it doesn't have enough action. Hurry up MW2!

I couldn't disagree with you more about World at War multiplayer. It is FANTASTIC. The DLC map packs for that game have some of the best multiplayer maps ever made. It was the second map pack where things really took off. I will be buying the 3rd when it is released as well. They keep getting better. Treyarch has redeemed themselves of past sins.
I also am very much looking forward to the single player experience in MW2.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
Despite Funkmasterr's hate of CoD this game will definitely be the biggest seller of the year. Even though the single player campaign, so I hear, being just as short (or shorter) than the original MW.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
It's likely going to break first dat, week, and monthly sales records. I doubt it will break the record for the most games ever sold. I just do not think it will have legs. The game will be heavily front loaded.
The game is obviously all about multiplayer, but it's really nice to get an A+ single player experiance to go along with it. The new 2 player challange mode looks like a fantastic addition to the game. I look more forward to that than anything else the game offers.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
I bought this, Assassin's Creed 2, and L4D2 from Amazon, all with release day delivery and I paid 44$ per game. I will end up with 15$ credit towards my next game purchase from Amazon, which will be in Jan.
Amazon basically has a "rolling" game credit. Once you're in the loop, it's hard to not buy new releases from them. Their games are already 5$ cheaper than anywhere else, and you also don't have to pay taxes.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
They seem to be pretty protective about this game. Just talked to a coworker today, he put a review of it up on his blog yesterday, at 23.08 our time, and got a "take this down, or we will sue you" mail a few hours later, where they spelled very clearly out that he hadnt bought the game, and they didn't like piracy, and he would get sued if he didnt take the review down.
Unfortunately for them, it WAS sold in denmark, maybe before it was supposed to, but if you can buy a game in a store, they cant blame you for reviewing it, so he took pics of himself holding the cover, game disc, and recipt on the game, and they replied again and backtracked on the "youre a pirate" accusation, but still said their US branch had a very strick "no reviews before release" policy, and they would sue if he didnt take down the review.
Its still up, and he is waiting to see if he will get suid for posting a POSITIVE review of a game that is sold in stores

If you're buring it for the PC don't get it off Steam. The mage will only unlock on the 12th or 13th depending on your region.
I'm still on the fence on this one. the SP clocks in at about 4-5 hours and I've never been a huge COD MP fan to begin with. I think i'm going to save my money for BF: Bad Company 2. I liked the first oe of that a lot more than I did COD4.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
So went from not wanting this game to being talked into going to the midnight release last night..
Got home and played a half dozen games, and I'll say I'm definitely impressed, it turned out better than I was expecting. The more games I'm getting the more I'm excited to not have a 20 year old tv anymore. The multiplayer works real well, the maps are good sized and are designed really well, controls are the same as before, and the amount of customization is definitely increased greatly from the first MW.
I'm sure I'll be online playing quite a bit so look for me

Every version of the series has been short. Most cinematic-type games are. You don't get much more cinematic than the Call of Duty series.
Re: Modern Warfare 2
I disagree. Previous to Modern Warfare the simple player campaign took more than 7 hours to complete. Why do you think that was one of the big complaints and always brought up during reviews? I know the answer... But I'll leave it to you to figure it out for yourself.
They shortened the Single player game as the Multiplayer aspect was increased.

I'm trying to see where I said they took 7 hours to complete, but I'm just not finding it.
What I did say was that every single CoD game has had short single player campaigns. You can tell me I'm incorrect, but I've played them all so I know better. Actually, 7 hours per game seems about right now that you mention it.
Btw, Trayarch's next CoD game is rumored to be releasing in 2010 and will be taking place in Vietnam. If that is true, then wow. Sign me up.

Sure! Better cover than the hardpan Sonora desert scrub. That's why there is no Tempe/Phoenix/Scottsdale level!

Amazon basically has a "rolling" game credit. Once you're in the loop, it's hard to not buy new releases from them. Their games are already 5$ cheaper than anywhere else, and you also don't have to pay taxes.
What is this about a "rolling" credit from Amazon? Also, I have not seen prices as good as you listed. Is there some other Amazon thing I need to sign up for?

Re: Modern Warfare 2
I have Amazon Prime, so I do not pay for shipping.
Amazon will frequently give you credit towards the purchase of another game from Amazon. For instance, MW2 gave me 20$. I put that towards Assassin's Creed 2, which also has a 5$ off instant code. Once that game is charged, I get another $10 off my next game purchase from Amazon. It just keeps "rolling" like that due to the game credits. Keep in mind I'm also using an Amazon credit card, which gives triple points as well, which I also use towards games. I used 25$ on my MW2.

Ohhh, I forgot about Amazon Prime. I may as well check that out, since I have the Chase Amazon card as well. Almost enough points to get another $25 certificate!

Picked the game up from Target this morning for the 360. I started the campaign and played for about an hour and a half until I gave into my multiplayer itch. The multiplayer in this game is absolutely phenomenal. So expansive and immersive. It is like they really asked themselves after CoD4, what can we do to make this game's multiplayer twice as addictive.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
The one complaint I have, is not being able to be in party chat in multiplayer games. I understand they did it because people whined that their team wasn't working together because people are in private chat, but let's look at the reality of that situation:
-if a group of people are in a party, private chat or not, they are most likely going to focus on working together with their party and not the rest of the game.
-the same people that whined about people not working together as a team probably join a team deathmatch game and go run off and do their own thing.
For one I don't want to listen to the 14 year old kids yelling into the mic and talking about fucking everyone's moms, I want to be able to coordinate with my friends that I'm playing with without having to talk over them.. And I don't want to have to stop my game to go in the menu and mute them.
I have been in one game since this came out where someone was actually trying to work with the team, and I'll bet you any money that continues to be the case moving forward.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
I played some single player last night and thought it looked fantastic. It is definately a bit more hectic than the first one. MP was as good as I was hoping. The shooting is very much like CoD4, but the overall gameplay feels faster and more fluid to me for some reason. In my 3rd game, I lagged so badly it was unplayable. Also, even as a rank 1 I was up against people ranked 20+ in deathmatch and team deathmatch modes. I think that's pretty fucked up. You could tell those people had the maps memorized and me and the other lower ranked players just got raped over and over by people with vastly superior weapons and perks. On the plus side, you seem to get rewards and exp for almost everything you do, which makes me want to come back for more. Even in my lagfest game I unlocked some badges and all I did was stand in 1 spot and try to snipe.
I would say the game is meeting my expectations so far.
It was pretty funny looking at my friends list and every single person was playing MW2. I have never seen that before with any previous game release.

Funk, I'm with you on this one.. Would like to have the option to speak in party and not in game..

Re: Modern Warfare 2
I don't use team speak but this sounds retarded. Wouldn't it make complete sense to use party speak? Why would you possibly want to use game speak if you're on opposite sides trying to use strategy to defeat the other side? Sounds like a major logic flaw.Soreali wrote:Was worth the wait..
