Places to buy patio furniture?

Anyone have any recommendations for places to shop online, or of a major retailer I might not be thinking of? I know like Lowe's and Home Depot sell it, anyone else?

I have a deck on my new house, and I'd like to get ~6 chairs and a table big enough to accommodate them for people to sit at and have a meal or a drink. I was hoping to keep the whole thing under $1k, but haven't had much luck so far.

I love Restoration Hardware's stuff, but it's more than I'd want to spend on furniture that goes outside. Also, outside is awful here.

Have you tried Target? They usually set up an outdoor living kind of area this time of year, and their website has some cool stuff.

Costco (in our area, at least) had some nice stuff at the beginning of Spring. I think they still have it, but I haven't looked lately.

I wish I could offer some help on the subject. We've been looking for something new for our patio, but we've had a hard time finding something that isn't either flimsy and poorly made or super expensive. So far what we've found is either mass-produced, disposable Chinese garbage, or boutique stuff that costs way more than we're willing to spend.

Restoration Hardware has a lot of nice looking home furnishings but their quality is absolute fucking shit.

I've had to replace 2 Restoration Hardware light fixtures that were less than 3 years old. Both of them shorted out INSIDE the fixtures. The 3 year old table and 2 deck chairs will also need to be replaced this fall (if they actually last the summer).


I think for my next set of patio furniture I'm just gonna get some decent looking looking cheap shit that's on sale.

If you're looking for super cheap, Big Lots has some patio collections for like $300. I was just there a couple of days ago (I'm a hideously addicted bargain shopper) and they didn't look half bad. If you want a bit better quality (I would), Crate & Barrel has some nice patio furniture (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.as ... 40&f=30996 is on sale and you could add 2 more arm chairs to it and be under your 1k budget). Alternatively, there's CB2. Their shit is cute and relatively inexpensive.

edit: I agree that Restoration Hardware sucks and I'll add "ridiculously overpriced".

Good to know. I've never bought furniture from there, and I won't in the future. We are probably going to move very soon, and I plan on just selling all of our stuff and buying it when we get there.

Anyone have experience with Room and Board? Their stuff looks really nice, but I'm curious about their quality as well.

Which set did you get? I looked at one on their website, and saw a couple of styles that I thought might be OK, but neither of the stores nearby had them in stock for me to look at. I was actually thinking about mentioning World Market in this thread, but hadn't gotten around to it yet. I got a grill from Lowes last summer, and have been pretty happy with it so far. I got a rotisserie kit for it that I haven't even used yet, so I might break that in this week sometime. I thought it was kind of stupid that the grill had a rotisserie burner on it, but didn't come with the rotisserie kit.

I can grill up to 50 burgers on my stainless gas grill. The most I have ever cooked in the 3 years I have owned it is 10. It still looks brand new though. It was a great purchase. In the summer, I easily cook on it 2-3 times a week.

Thanks for the suggestions, all! After looking around all over the internets, and at a number of local establishments, I couldn't pass up this set I found at Home Depot for $499.

Also bought a nice stainless grill last week, and had a natural gas line installed for it. No more LP tanks for me!

Now I just need to strip and refinish my deck, and I'll be good to go.

This is the set that I picked up. I also added cushions to it. Then finished it off with a Blue Ember SonarQue Grill (porcelain goddamn it all) to finish it off. The cool thing about the grill is the propane monitor, though Sylvus' idea with the direct gas line is just genius, so I may have to look into that.

Lol. For the price of the labor and equipment to set that up you could buy a top of the line grill... use propane tanks, they're cheap and exchangeable at most convenient stores and supermarkets. Get two, always keep a spare.

You'll just need a gas line extended to your designated location. It's usually a pretty simple project. I'm holding off adding a line until we do our addition. My final porch design will be heavily dependant on that.

In the grand scheme of things, it's totally worth $200 for me not to ever run out of gas or have a low tank when I'm trying to grill something. Not to mention that natural gas is cheaper than LP, the cost of what my time is worth, paying for gas to drive to the store, etc...

Most people could not. Turning off the gas, splitting a gas pipeline and properly sealing the joints, possibly needing to blow air out of the line, properly insulating around any holes you make in exterior walls, etc are not things that your average person can or should do. The cost of materials could also go up depending on where you have to run the line from -> to (if walls/ceilings have to be opened, ground dug up, etc).

Propane is cheap and easy for the average person. If you don't do a ton of grilling I think the propane tank is the way to go, personally. I will be hooking up mine to a gas line, but like I said it's not for everyone.

I considered getting a gas BBQ and running a gas line out to my deck...
But then I compared the price of natural gas to propane, factored in the cost of running the line and noticed that natural gas BBQs are 50-75 dollars more than propane.

It's actually cheaper for me to use propane.

I found a place 5 minutes away that will refill my tanks for $10.
I can BBQ whereverthefuck I want to... In my driveway, garage, deck, or in the middle of the fucking road if I wanted to.
Barbecuing in the winter during a blizzard is a lot more enjoyable in the garage (door half open) than on my uncovered deck.
And when I get a new BBQ, my old one gets moved up to the cottage.
