Caprica
So... I just finished watching this. I don't think it's out for another week or two, but it showed up on eztv. It actually wasn't too bad. It had the feel of the BSG universe, camera work, colours, lighting, all very similar. And Bear Mcreary (sp?) did the music, so it was familiar in that way too. I think there's some potential here. It's a bit anti-climactic knowing where everything will end up, but still interesting. From the early reports of what the show was going to be about I was worried it was going to be some soapy teen drama, like a 90210 in space, but it is most definitely not that.
If you're not one to download shows, especially before they're released, then I'd recommend watching it when it premieres. It's worth checking out.

Re: Caprica
That actress played Trixie on Deadwood and she does have gaunt facial features. In that picture it seems exaggerated though.
Will be watching this tomorrow night to see how it is.

Re: Caprica
First 90 minute (sans commercials) episode was pretty good!
It wasn't what I was expecting. What channel is this airing on that you get to see boobies?
Besides the whore from Deadwood, the evil Julii mom from the Rome series in in this as well. It's a wait and see for me. I need to see another episode or two but the premier wasn't bad as a stand alone movie.

Re: Caprica
I watched it and I liked it. My question, was this the pilot for a sci fi series? I had thought that this was originally going to be a sci fi series spin off. I had no idea it was going to DVD.
Liked the boobies.

is she from the South? I've noticed that phenomenon is more pronounced with southern accents (always have fun with that watching CNN - CNN Center being in Atlanta).Winnow wrote:That the hell is up with that lady's cheek? Plastic surgery gone bad?

Re: Caprica
It's the pilot for a series. Sadly I don't think the series will contain boobies
Just as long as there's lots of fracks!

Re: Caprica
SyFy has this listed as starting Jan 22. Looking forward to it myself..Boogahz wrote:When is this supposed to actually start airing?

Re: Caprica
Yeah I'm confused. Caprica DVD came out months ago, then they split that same DVD movie into two parts and showed it on SyFy as a prequel to the new series. Then tonight was the supposed series premiere, which I wasn't able to catch...but from what my friend described it sounded like that same DVD/prequel...

Re: Caprica
Yeah, they had it listed as Pilot, and while I haven't watched what I recorded yet, I would imagine this episode was the same one that was on the dvd.

Just watched it on the intertubes, that was pretty good. Might be the first show I've watched on purpose in years.

Re: Caprica
So, first new episode since the pilot. It's going to be interesting on a few levels. Interesting to see how they keep pulling off the Zoe/Cylon switch-a-roo and not make it annoying. Also interesting to see if it'll be reduced to a lot of melodrama and crying. I hope they keep to its sci fi roots and make it more story driven than emotion driven.
I'll say this tho... that's one of the more unique title sequences I've ever seen.

Im jealous of anyone that hasn't seen the four seasons of BSG nd can watch them all back to back.
Im going to let Caprica log a few more episodes and then watch them all.

Re: Caprica
I'm disappointed they weren't able to take this concept anywhere interesting. Too much metaphysical garbage and shitty Dawson's Creek-style dramallama.

Re: Caprica
Kept up with the first season, but lost interest this second season.
If they're going to do any BSG spin-off it might as well start off from where the final BSG left off. Imagine how intense those first few years or even few decades/generations would be for the survivors on 'earth'.

Re: Caprica
It's actually still the first season
I think Sci-fi (NOT SYFY) really shoot themselves in the foot by separating each season in half, it's hard to gain momentum on shows that way.
And I'd hate to see a series about them settling on Earth. Little Cylon on the Prairie?
