Random Casting Ideas - A Game of Thrones
Since I am re-reading A Song of Ice & Fire (again), I am starting to get a better picture of how I would want the upcoming HBO series to look.
First off, casting... Here are a couple ideas to start:
Brynden (Blackfish) Tully - Sam Elliott
Bronn - Tom MOTHERFUCKING Savini

Canelek, there is a special place on the interwebz for you.
http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?s= ... owforum=25
The two exec producers asked for this board to be set up so that discussions could take place. Westeros is a big geek board, especially for fantasy/sci-fi literature, and they've had some great (and not so great) suggestions for casting. Benioof and Weiss, who are Exec Producing the project, have stopped in many times to chime in on their thoughts. It's a great place to read about other people's thoughts on the matter, and if you want, to buzz in yourself.

New material indeed.....would a moderator kindly move Winnow's post to the BSG thread? I like the show as well, but he seems to have accidentally posted in the wrong thread.
Thanks
Back to topic....
I had visited that westeros.org site, but it was a bit of an overload of information for me! However, I did like that they had imdb links as the casting suggestions. Most of the names I have never heard of!
Peter Dinkelage as Tyrion fo sho, if he would be into that role. Oh, I always picture Max Von Sydow as Tywinn Lannister. That whole Ming the Merciless vibe and all...
Thanks

Re: Random Casting Ideas - A Game of Thrones
Peter Dinklage is pretty much the only unanimous choice on those boards. There is some concern because he is currently working on the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movies, but come on. Play a stupid one-dimensional dwarf for a few scenes or work as one of the best roles on television, written for a dwarf. I would think anyone would drool at the mouth to play him, because of Tyrion's range, yet the part is written for a specific segment of the population.
I always wanted Patrick Stewart as Tywin, but that's probably outside of their budget range. Still....ugh, I'd get chills watching him manipulate everyone.

Patrick Stewart pretty much would own that role as well. However, when I picture him in armor, it as a "good guy" much like his role in Excalibur.
"Good guy" is a bit gray in this series, however! Perhaps Lord Commander Mormot?

Stewart would be awesome, and I could see him as many different characters...Jon Arryn, maybe one of the maesters, Tywin for sure, Lord Barristan Selmy easily (Barristan the Bold), list goes on.

I love Patrick Stewart as well. I too can really only picture him in "good guy" roles. I think he'd do really well as Barristan!Canelek wrote:Patrick Stewart pretty much would own that role as well. However, when I picture him in armor, it as a "good guy" much like his role in Excalibur.

I don't think I've ever seen Peter Dinklage in anything. If they do get him for Tyrion I do hope he does an amazing job. That is one character I hope they don't screw up! (well really I don't want them to screw up any character in the series, but Tyrion especially!)

You should watch The Station Agent if you've never seen Peter Dinklage in anything. It's a great indie comedy/drama with him as the lead.
Re: Random Casting Ideas - A Game of Thrones
HEY! I just found out tonight that the script for the pilot was leaked recently. It follows the book very well with some minor changes. Fuck I cannot wait for this!
If you haven't seen it yet, but would like to...check it out:

Re: Random Casting Ideas - A Game of Thrones
Pretty solid. It seems to do some character development a bit early, which is usually a good idea if they want to retain an audience. I do hope they get the opening sequence better though. The way it was written, it does not have Royce popping up as a wight.
