Good beginning. Awesome ending. The ending especially had me smiling for a good couple hours after it finished.

This movie would have been infinitely better if they didn't show 80% of Brad Pitts scenes in the previews.
Col. Landa was great.

Re: Inglourious Basterds
I really loved the film. I was expecting a bit more of the Basterds themselves, but the other main characters were great as well. The structure was very similar to Pulp fiction, with the multiple storylines converging into one- and all of them were handled well.
The film is worth seeing just to see the greatness that is Col. Landa. Christopher Waltz's performance is worthy of an Oscar for sure. He is a perfect example of how a well-crafted villain can make a good film GREAT. (ala The Joker)

Re: Inglourious Basterds
I saw it this weekend, and was laughing my ass of at it, so great a movie, the lines were just brilliant. It has been a long time since i was in a theater and people were clapping like 20 times during the movie.
The acting was bloody brilliant, Colonel Landa was one of the coolest villains seen on the big screen in years. I really enjoyed how it didnt really any big names but Tim Roth and Brad Pitt in it....of course half of that is finding US actors who can speak fluent german or french, but i still applaud his choises of just about any role in the movie.
All the usual Tarantino trademarks are there, Morricone music, excellent dialogue, grotesque violence that just seem natural in the movie (hell, my mom even loved Kill bill because of his way to handle violence), cameo of himself, stylished shots and so on....
The only issue i had with it was that you could have seen a little more to the Basterds, but the other scenes made up for it.
The translation to danish was a little wonky, for some reason, the translator had issues translating the title, so whenever the germans talked about the Basterds, he used the literal translation "insidious devil dogs", that kinda distracted me a few times, but the translation was good apart from that
To be fair, the people who though that Kill Bill Part 2 sucked because there were not enough action, and who disliked Death Proof because of the dialogue will NOT like this movie...but for anyone who love Tarantinos flair for dialogie, it is a must see.

Saw this with my brother last night, I liked it quite a bit. "Bear Jew" is the best nickname, ever.

Re: Inglourious Basterds
but Tim Roth and Brad Pitt in it
I dont think Tim Roth was in it- you're either thinking of Eli Roth... or Cristoph Waltz who looks similar to Tim Roth and played Hans Landa
I TOLD YOU ID SHOOT! BUT YOU DIDNT BELIEVE ME! WHY DIDNT YOU BELIEVE ME?
Re: Inglourious Basterds
Yeah, sorry, Eli Roth....he used both of them in several movies before, so messed them up

This flick is fucking awesome.
For the oppressed, peace is the absence of oppression, but for the oppressor, peace is the absence of resistance.
Re: Inglourious Basterds
Surprised no one mentioned Mike Myers as the British official/officer in old man makeup. Was pretty certain it was him...
Not that I think he was amazing or anything, but he is another big name.

yeah, it was him
Re: Inglourious Basterds
Don't forget the Harvey Keitel 'voice cameo'. Not sure the technical term for that!
I thought KB2 was twice the movie KB1 was.Hesten wrote:To be fair, the people who though that Kill Bill Part 2 sucked because there were not enough action, and who disliked Death Proof because of the dialogue will NOT like this movie...but for anyone who love Tarantinos flair for dialogie, it is a must see.

Same here, but like 75% of people who saw the Kill Bills prefer #1 for some reason.Aslanna wrote:Don't forget the Harvey Keitel 'voice cameo'. Not sure the technical term for that!

Re: Inglourious Basterds
I really can't fathom why so many people liked this film. I was so disappointed. I had high - very high - hopes, but it fell completely flat. Christoph Waltz was the films one saving grace, and that was nowhere near enough to raise it above mediocrity. And mediocrity from Tarantino is just not good enough.

Re: Inglourious Basterds
Christoph Waltz made this movie and he improved and made every actor in his scenes "better".
