Slumdog Millionaire
I'm surprised no one started a thread on this yet.
I saw it last night and I have to say that it was definitely my favorite film of 2008. Easily Danny Boyle's best movie and worthy of all the praise critics are throwing at it. With all the hype I was expecting to be let down but instead it was better than I could have imagined. Definitely something I would recommend for anyone to see.

Excellent
8.9/10
2 hour movie, feels like 3 hours movie but keeps your attention the whole way through.
Good acting. Great visuals. Good story.

Definitely would give this an A. Not surprising it won best picture at the Golden Globes. Boyle deserved his award as well, of course. Not sure it's my favorite film of the year, but it's in the top 5 for sure.
Re: Slumdog Millionaire
Easily the movie of the year. I really hope it gets every best picture/director award out there.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire
Tough competition this year. I think this may win best picture though, or best director(more likely). It was visually stunning, but not a surprise coming from Boyle. What most impressed me was the setting. It was really cool to have urban India be the centerpiece.
I may actually watch the award show this year.

I was actually surprised at how good the soundtrack/score was too. Definately worth some more awards in that department.

Just saw it and loved it. Definitely a major contender for best picture as well as other awards. Great job all around. Benjamin Button was good, but nothing incredibly moving. Frost/Nixon I'm sure has some great writing and moments, but story wise who gives a shit really. I'd like to see Milk just because I like Sean Penn, but my expectations for best picture are quite low as the story just doesn't really intrigue me much.

Re: Slumdog Millionaire
I really liked it. It did seem long, but not in a way that made me wish I were dead. It's easily the best movie I saw of 2008, but that's not saying much.
Re: Slumdog Millionaire
Totally over rated film. It is a really nice film, if a little twee. It has a great degree of optimism to it and if you like a good love story, it's a good show. Still, it's totally undeserving of the amount of hype and critical respect it got (and I'm a massive Danny Boyle fan). Compared to some of the other films out in the last year it's cutesy, interesting, but ultimately little more than AlrightISH at best.
