Candidate Change

Post by Siji »

I was talking to someone about this and since neither of us had the answer, perhaps someone here does so I don't have to bother searching..

Is it permissible to change your vice presidential running mate this close to the election? (Short of death or incapacitation) The reason I ask is probably very obvious. I'll be surprised if Palin isn't yanked before the debate (or for some reason is unable to attend), and very surprised if she isn't yanked afterward.. assuming it's legal.

Personally thinking about it, I hope it's not legal to do so. It gives no time for debating or finding out about a candidate in such a short time. But perhaps that's the republican plan. Put Palin up there to show that they like the wimmins, are pro-life and likes them some guns, then at the last minute have her bow out for some excuse then put some tighty whitey old guy up without giving the Obama campaign a chance to vet the new person.

Anyway, if anyone knows for sure I'd be curious to hear.

They can do whatever they want.

I'd swap out Biden if I were the dems for Hillary. Sneaky bastards. That's a confirmation of the Kilmoll curse test for politics if that happens.

swapping out Palin would be a misstep IMO, like an admission of weakness, or stupidity. With Biden it seems more feasible, since the gain from H-Rod may offset whatever weakness would come from that.

Winnow is wrong.

You can do it, but there's a particular process for doing so which is, afaik, governed far more by internal party rules than by any actual body of law.

I don't recall the details, but I know that the RNC has a veto over any VP replacement, thus it'd be really tricky for McCain to ditch Palin and get someone like Tom Ridge or Joe Lieberman in the slot.

I'm also going to say that while I think Hillary would have been a better choice than Palin in terms of winning votes, she's absolutely not necessary for Obama to win this election. I think he really wants to win the White House without being forced to pull the Clintons in with him.

McCain has historically been pretty bipartisan, perhaps he's going to try for Hillary as his VP? ><

So in summary, there's no rule or law against a change of VP running mate this late in the campaign?

If that's true, I stand by my statement that it'd surprise me if Palin didn't bow out. All she needs is some b.s. excuse like she can't handle the pressure or something. Granted, her possibility for advancement would be nil going forward but McCain at this point wouldn't give a fuck. Anything to win.

I haven't found a news source yet, but Jay Leno just mentioned something about if Palin doesn't do well in the debate Thursday, she's going to resign on Friday.

Anyone got any links to factual information about this if it's true? Seriously, this is fucked up if it's true.

Well I heard the other day from Bozo the Clown that that if Biden was too mean in the debate, he'd smack him in the face with a pie.

A dead Bozo is funnier than a living Leno.

you think you get to decide this shit? wrong

clown zombies are way up there in the progression ranks. you don't get to kill those until you've earned it.

education:
1 ) Slow moving, lumbering zombies
2 ) obese zombies that explode when they die
3 ) zombie soldiers with machine guns
4 ) fast moving, wall-climbing zombies
5 ) cyborg zombies
6 ) ninja zombies
7 ) clown zombies
8 ) ZOMBIE NAZIS

After reading the Zombie Survival Guide, Xou and I had numerous discussions.

We decided his first course of action in the event of an outbreak was to find me. I have the guns, and will be responsible for the violence. He's going to be the responsible for growing food and making sure we are healthy!

I would, except that you're in MI. Xou is in the next town east of me. We should coordinate some kind of VV rally point in the event of a large scale outbreak. Somewhere in the Rockies would be my vote.

Zombie Survival Guide was a fun book. Replace the zombies with starving people and you pretty much get the same thing. People shuffling about looking for anything they can eat. I can guarantee that if most people were hungry enough then human would be on the menu...just don't eat the liver.

That's precisely why the human liver isn't so good. A lot of the bad shit that gets into it to get filtered out sticks around for a while.
