That's funny, the article references some sort of "historic crisis" that the U.S. economy faces. I thought everything was going great?

Or is that just in Minnesota?

That is pretty lol.

Not sure if this is going to help cover up his involvement in the mortage crisis...unless the monthly campaign payments from one of the biggest player was just an "accident".

McCain's desperation is getting to be painful to watch. I almost feel bad for the senile old coot.

I was just thinking something similar. Obama supporter's complete confidence that he is going to win is beginning to get tiring and painful to watch/hear/read. As I've said before, I can't wait until you are all eating your words. I really, truly, can't wait.

Which merely proves that you're an idiot.

Even if Obama does lose, and hey, it's not like the US hasn't proven itself to be full of voting idiots in the last decade, it doesn't mean he isn't a substantially more intelligent choice for the Presidency.

People like you seem happy to laugh as your country falls apart around you. Truly mind boggling.

How long did it take for McCain to go from 'there is nothing wrong with the economy' to 'hair on fire crisis in which only a lone senator can save!' ?

Cute political move...it may arouse some of his dumber voters. In reality, the move is pretty pointless, especially since we are not in the middle of an economic crisis.

Am I going out on a limb by saying that there is a chance that the investigation by the FBI comes to his front porch in some capacity?

This is a bad move by McCain. Ultimately, he will not compare well side to side with Obama in eloquence but he seems more relatable in his speeches. Still, this whole "I am gonna work through the crisis, and thus not debate" stance makes me shake my head. He does realize he is NOT the president yet, right? He does realize he has the authority to do basically jack and shit about problem which will be occupying his time, right? If he is brainstorming, he does realize that he can do two things at once, right? He realizes that canidates for the presidency have debated during shooting wars in our history, right? Most of all, he does realize that this is transparent, and will fuck him, right?

There is a chance of that yes. But who knows?

This attempt to stall the debates is the second most obvious "playing politics over substance" event in the whole of the campaign so far. Sarah Palin being of course the first (The interview today with Couric is an example of just quite how fucked the US would be if Palin was President). I can see how this may appeal to a few voters who already support McCain, but apart from that I can't really figure out what medication McCain must be on to be making this ridiculous move.

Who cares anyhow. The debates are and always have been a waste of time full of their best attempts to skirt the questions asked of them. I hardly think this will sway anyone either way that knows their head from their ass.

The first debate is scheduled to be only about foreign policy. I think it would have been a better move to ask that the debate topics be reorganized.

Seriously? Suspending it with one month to go before elections? What a fucking joke. Not quite as funny as Palin having foreign policy experience because Alaska is the closest state to Russia (whaaaaat?) but it's up there.

And it's no surprise Funk doesn't seem to have any issue with it. If it were that uppity arugula-eating negro Obama he'd be all over that shit like white on rice,

Bush on situation tonight.
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politi ... .short.cnn

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/record. ... entm0m0m0m
en. John McCain [R-AZ]: Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae's regulator reported that the company's quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were "illusions deliberately and systematically created" by the company's senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.

The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight's report goes on to say that Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives. In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae's former chief executive officer, OFHEO's report shows that over half of Mr. Raines' compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac.

The OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator's examination of the company's accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform.

For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs--and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO's report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO's report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.

BIIIGGGGG difference in money to someone in your campaigns firm, than the ACTUAL presidential nominee himself? And the Thief CEO Mr. FKINH RAINES being a possible econiomic advisor to the presidential nominee himself.

Anyways I blame them all...The government sucks..Clinton, Bush Congress, Greedy CEO's, Bad LOANs, and strong arming of companies to give people that can't pay back loans. I just get tired of Obama being potrayed as flawless when hes as dirty as Ive seen for such a short career already.

This is the usual response any time McCain makes one of his increasingly frequent fuck ups.

"OH BUT THEY ARE ALL CORUPTXZ BUT IM STILL VOTING FOR MCCLANE"

Ofc any time Obama fucks up (virtually never), The same people cry wolf like its the last days of revelations.

In reality, todays rundown:

1. Obama calls McCain in an attempt at bi-partisan cross party unity to focus on the economic effects of the last week and a half.

2. McCain agrees to the idea (despite being in the middle of a meeting with Rothschild (fucking lol))

3. McCain goes all WTF in an attempt to be a "maverick", except its more like "senile desperate old moron" and tries to demand that virtually the entire sub continent of North America stops everything because he refuses to acknowledge the very legitimate campaign race in an effort to grab a painfully transparent political power play. Worth noting that Presedential elections happened even during WW2, and every sitting President has to run a re-election campaign even while being the fucking President. This doddering old fuck appears to have forgotten this.

4. Media laughs as does everyone else with a brain.

5. Bush gives a terrible speech and tries to bail McCain out of the colossal shitheap he's put himself, thus making McCain look like he needs the help of "Daddy Bush" to save his campaign.

6. McCain tries to stop the VP debate being held after Katie Couric (of all people) makes Sarah Palin look the empty headed no nothing retard that she is. That interview should be enough to swing the election on its own. Really, that 5 second clip of Palin with the empty look on her face as she blanked a basic fucking question was amazing. Truly side splitting.

7. Obama accepts the invitation by Bush, because he's overjoyed at the number of gimmes he just got and can afford to let McCain hang himself further by his increased closeness to the nationally and internationally despised Bush government - but still states the debates are still on regardless.

8. McCain holds the country to ransom saying he will only debate on friday night, 40 DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION, if the ill thought out 700billion dollar buyout deal is accepted by then. Despite being explicitly told by Washington that he shouldn't bother because all he's going to do is create a fucking media circus of the entire serious thing. Also, he can't really do very much anyway. And it's pretty fucking ironic that the man who's voted second last on the number of bills in recent years is now going Tropic Thunder into Washington TO FIX EVERYTHING BECAUSE HES A MAVERICK WHO WAS A POW DONCHANO.

9. World goes "wtf......really? This election is somehow close? .....Really?"

10. In conclusion, It's so far beyond "completely fucking farcical" that its just not even funny. The polls show Palin is already becoming deeply unpopular, despite the initial hysterical right wing zealot bounce (that was to be expected after the RNC convention). Obama's winning in the polls again already. If this was any other free nation on the planet, today has effectively halved the chances of McCain winning. What an unbelievable mistake. Suicidal.

Then again, it's America. Who the fuck knows. I havent seen this much self induced harm from anyone, let alone an entire nation, since I saw that emo guy cutting himself on youtube.

And even if Obama does "lose" the election, he has at least managed to force the Republicans and their idiotic teat sucking supporters to stop giving the direct middle finger to 50% of the USA and the rest of the world for the last 8 years. Which is a fucking amazing victory anyway, no matter what happens come November.

In my opinion, the whole suspending his campaign and trying to postpone the debates was a stupid political ploy. I think he was trying to look heroic and will try to vilify Obama for not suspending the debates.

The gift that keeps on giving! I'm putting $1000 down on Obama to win on intrade, problem is the money won't be in the account til monday or tuesday of next week. By then I'm worried Obama's stock will have jumped over 60, of course I'll still buy, but I won't make as much on it. It went up 3 points today alone. C'mon McCain, at least make it a fight!

So if McCain wins the presidency he's going to have to stop everything to address each issue one at a time? He can't have a debate for a few hours AND do government type work?

As was said above, this is a piss poor attempt at looking like he wants to fix the government while at the same time getting the opportunity to say Obama is evil because he only cares about debating and not real gubment work.

Epic fail.

This. The only two pens in Washington that matter right now as far as this goes are Sen. Chris Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank, and I'd lay good odds that they'll get this hammered out a good deal faster *without* two presidential candidates and 500 cameras cluttering up their offices.

I expect both candidates to vote on the bill, but in the meantime I think they should be out acting like they want the job they're campaigning for.
