Iz:The Spirit of Aloha (My First Animated Short)
Hey VV,
I just completed my first animated short film. The film is based on the life of Hawaiian Singer Israel "Iz" Kamakawiwo'ole. Geared towards kids, but I think its entertaining for just about all ages.
This film is a little different then what you may expect from me. All i'll say is that the next film I do, which I am already working on, is more the Sparty that you know =)
The Teaser/Trailer can be found here...
http://vimeo.com/1739642
Yes, I know its silly to have a trailer for a 4 1/2 minute short. But, I was bored while rendering.
What can I say?
The film will be doing the rounds on the festival circuit, so It wont be made public for 3 -4 months. However, I've thrown a password protected version up on vimeo for my friends and family to check out.
The link is http://vimeo.com/1740844
The Password is erichasprettyhands
And lastly, I kept a blog throughout the production which you will find here.

Sparty,
You really are a magical person. This is very beautiful... Fantastic job!!
I anxiously await your next work of art!!
I'd buy you a new baseball, just to see what you'd do with it.

That was great Sparty!
Did you write the story/poem as well?
The colors really stood out for me. Let us know how it does on the festival circuit.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Yup, I wrote the poem. I did all of the art/animation. I even did the guitar track you hear in the background =)
I'll keep you guys updated on how it does.
Thanks again!

Yeah very impressed. I am going to show it to the kids tonight.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

That video is full of happy FUCKSHITBITCHASS.

Re: Iz:The Spirit of Aloha (My First Animated Short)
Thanks gang. You guys are always good for a confidence boost. I'll be the first to admit that this is a little soft, some may even say gay, but I still think it was a good first run. I learned a lot. I'm submitting it to all the smaller festivals, a few big ones, and all of the animation festivals. I'll doubt it'll do amazingly well, but im sure i'll get into a few, which is always nice.
My next film is about a guy who fishes for birds, lives with his dead wife, and floats around on a tree that grew from a barge. A little more up my alley =)
Thanks again!

By the way, I want to make it clear that little rico did zero work on the film. He would tell you differently. He just sat around watching me work and then wanted a writing credit. BS.

Really nice work there mate
I see your characters have become a little less harsh looking with time?
I quite liked the disturbed, distorted visions of past work, but this stuff is much more pleasing and palateble to the eye
Again, excellent stuff

Nice work man. Big fan of Israel's work. His version of Somewhere over the Rainbow is one of my wife's and I favorite song.
