The Crying Game, the Game
So they were discussing which movies are ok for men to cry during on the radio the other morning and I've been trying to think of a list of movies I've seen men cry during... I've only come up with a few where I think they wouldn't be mocked senselessly by other men for. I'll add a couple to this thread so as not to kill anyone else's glory but:
If you're of the male variety - which movies have you cried during?
And for everyone else (men can play too): which movies do you think make a man a pansy for having cried during?
Movies I thought did not emasculate a man for having cried during:
The Bucket List
Big Fish
The Green Mile
Your turn...
PS
I don't think crying makes a man a pansy at all. In fact, I like to try to do just that as often as humanly possible.

Re: Boys *do* cry
Movies are one of the few things that can make me cry. When I see people in an emotional situation, it brings me to their level and I feel it too.
50 First Dates is the only one I can think of right now. I felt connected to the characters and got choked up thrice.

Oh yeah, The Bucket List brought some tears, no doubt. The only thing I think that says about anything is that it was a well directed, well acted movie.laneela wrote:So they were discussing which movies are ok for men to cry during on the radio the other morning and I've been trying to think of a list of movies I've seen men cry during... I know there have been others, but I'm having a hard time thinking of any off the top of my head.

Re: The Crying Game, the Game
Big Fish for sure.
I think I cried the first time I saw the Lion King.
Something about the death of a father really gets me every time. I think Armageddon even made me choke up a little bit, but that was the double whammy of a dad dying and it being Bruce Willis, who is never supposed to die in a movie.

I liked Big Fish and The Green Mile but for the life of me I can't remember the ending of either one or whether I thought it was sad...

Re: The Crying Game, the Game
What Dreams May Come is the saddest movie, ever. I wouldn't even say that movie choked me up, it made me cry. This was partly due to a cousin of mine killing himself shortly before I saw this movie, too.Fairweather Pure wrote:I will add the following movies that choked me up.

Re: The Crying Game, the Game
I almost cryed watching Crash, but it was more from a general sadness due to Hollywood attempting to create a film about morality. =/

Re: The Crying Game, the Game
I'll stick with Heavenly Forrest since I posted about it recently although there are other movies I could list. In light of the news about crying emotional tears being healthy, I plan on crying more often during movies. If anything slightly emotional happens, I'm going to bawl my eyes out and be healthier for it.

Re: The Crying Game, the Game
I cry at the end of every Star Trek movie. "This can't be the end, I need moar!!!"
Shawshank Redemption. When Morgan Freeman finally gets out and meets up with Tim Robbins, they begin a journey that was thirty years delayed. God, what an amazing movie.
I cried for at least thirty minutes of Dawn of the Dead when I went to see it in the theaters. I was laughing so hard, the tears just kept coming.

Re: The Crying Game, the Game
Believe it or not...Hook had me tearful at the point where Robin Williams was reaching out to get the baseball and he failed in front of his son. Something about not living up to the hopes and expectations of your children hits me pretty bad.
It's been mentioned but not the specific part. The Patriot. Where the youngest daughter cries out for her father not to leave after not having spoken to him ever.
Then pretty much any movie where a child or a pet gets killed. Varies in degree though from a misty moment to free falling tears. Usually I can keep a brave face when with others to maintain my Man Card but if I am alone I don't hold back.

Green Mile
Shawshank Redemption
Children off Men
The Stand (those big empty wiped out realistic areas get me every time), same with 28 days later.
28 Days Later
Croutching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Strictly Ballroom
Donnie Darko
Blair Witch Project, but that was crying over wasting 2 hours of my life on it.

Happy tears were building up at the end of the movie when the kids were finally able to put on their show, coupled with the eventual positive reactions of their parents. It was heart warming.Fairweather Pure wrote:Help me out here, pansy. I don't recall anything sad about this movie at all. (other than the sad attempt at humor!)Spang wrote:School of Rock

I don't know about you, kwon, but the best part of that movie is when she gets impaled. I cried for joy.

House of Wax was just outright gross and the ending was just retarded.

I remember crying at the end of My Girl when I was about that age or a little younger when Macaulay Culkin died. Now that I look back on it, I should have been laughing, or cheering the bees on.. depends on how you want to approach the situation, I guess.

Re: The Crying Game, the Game
Any movie that relates to a Father / Son bond puts tears in my eyes. It is probably due in part to the broken home syndrome and never having a "father" there for me when growing up. I tell ya, the boy scouts sucks without a dad!
