FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
It's almost that time again! Aaron Rogers will be a first round pick!
Re: FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
$10 says he runs onto the field the first game still holding a clipboard.

I'm in if there's a spot open.

Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

Count me in. Going to try and be sure and make it to the draft this year.
I blame the auto-draft for my shitty finish last year.

Re: FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
Here we go folks. I set us up for August 23rd, a Saturday, the weekend BEFORE Labor Day weekend. This is the same scoring as last year. Sign up or wait for the AFC to be formed by someone...I think Masteen is the commish for that.
Welcome to Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football.
This is to confirm that you've created the Custom League named Veeshan Vault NFC and the team called Sleazy Cheese in that league.
To allow other managers to join your league, send them the League ID# and Password. In your case, the ID# is 943 and the Password is bacon.
You have chosen for your league to take part in a live online draft on Sat Aug 23 11:00am PDT. Until that time, you (and only you) can change the type of draft by using the Change Draft Type option found among your Commissioner Tools, which can be reached from your League Overview page.
If you choose to remain in a live draft, please arrive at the draft 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled time. The draft will start promptly and may conclude rapidly if only a few managers are logged in.
We also suggest that all league members custom rank their players in case a manager can't make it to the draft. Managers can do this at any time by simply going to the Fantasy Football home page and clicking on their team name.
Thanks for joining. Good luck.

We need someone to Commish the AFC side of things. That is if there is enough interest. The NFC only has 3 slots left.

So who in your opinion will be the biggest sleeper surprise in the draft? Do you think Aaron Rogers will be as good as Favre? What about some of the new running backs? Think they will make an impact?

Re: FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
Peterson before LT, really? I might be willing to make a bet on that, though it really depends on how fantasy football is scored (since LT gets more passes than Peterson).Winnow wrote:#1 Adrian Peterson

Also: #3 Brian Westbrook
Re: FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
Peterson over Tomlinson is stupid. Even if Peterson does end up having a better season, it's still stupid. If you have the number one pick, you cannot afford to botch it. The slightly higher upside that Peterson has is absolutely not offset by the drastically higher chance of him shitting the bed.
Re: FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
That and Peterson won't make it a full season without getting injured since he is as soft as hospital cotton.
Fuck Michigan!

It's time for an avatar bet.
Peterson will outperform LT2 next year. Vikings have the best O line and Peterson is amazing
You guys are nuts. I'm a huge LT2 fan as well.
People tend to live in the past a year too long when it comes to FF.

Re: FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
LT or LT2, make up your mind.
Re: FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
If you cut out Peterson's two monster games last year, he ran for 188 times for 821 yards (4.36 average) in 12 games, with 6 touchdowns. Good numbers, sure. But what you're saying is that at the first pick-- where you need a sure thing because you don't get to pick again for a long time-- you would pass up one of the 10 or so best running backs in NFL history in his prime in order to take an injury-prone second year player on the basis of 2 strong games? Uhh, OK.
Again, he very well could dominate this year, but it's still a ridiculously stupid choice.

Re: FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
care to go ahead and cut out LT2's two best games and give me his stats for last year?Sueven wrote:If you cut out Peterson's two monster games last year, he ran for 188 times for 821 yards (4.36 average) in 12 games, with 6 touchdowns. One of them's going to be 198 yards and 4 TDs, the other is probably 177 yars and 2 TDs.
Big games are part of a players season. Not sure why people want to take them out. They're going to happen with great players.
And remember that LT2 improved from his rookie season. LT2 peaked in 2006 and is on the decline now with seven brutal NFL years logged.

This is the best place to check out average draft position/mock drafts:

LT2 and Peterson are neck and neck for #1.

Sure: 1100 yards and 9 touchdowns.
And anyone would go down from what was probably the best season in fantasy history.

Re: FANTASY FOOTBALL!!!
LT2 was looking pretty beat up all last season. He's been one of the best RBs ever over his career but it looks like it's taking its toll on him.
You can't even consider LT2 a safe pick because he might play a single series, not being put on the DL, and screw you for a week or two. With Peterson, you'll probably have a more accurate injury report and replacing a start with half assed RB is better than one that plays a single series or not at all.

This evaluation would favor LT2

Consider this: Peterson had 77 fewer carries than LaDainian Tomlinson but wound up with just 133 fewer yards. Had Peterson maintained his yard per carry average with 77 more carries, he would have gained 1,775 yards and scored 16 touchdowns.
Peterson also benefits from being in a run-first offense with a great offensive line. The Vikings ranked 6th in rush attempts last season and first in yards, yards per attempt, and touchdowns.
And there is some danger in drafting LT. While I'm not predicting it, I wouldn't be shocked to see Tomlinson break down this season. He has 2,365 career carries and nearly 3,000 total touches, having carried at least 313 times every season since entering the league in 2001. He's had three 400-touch seasons and has never had fewer than 375 in any given year. Suffice to say, he's been a workhorse back for the Chargers for seven seasons. And that may mean he's destined to break down sometime in the near future. Whether it will be this season or next season or two years from now, it's hard to say. But that's the one pitfall that could end up biting owners who draft Tomlinson first.

My gut instinct tells me to avoid Peterson this year if I have a high pick. I just feel an injury coming for him...and Winnow siding with him has completely sealed my gut feeling with the Anti-Winnow Sports Theory.
