Fucking Blade needs a better accountant!

Three years prison time for tax evasion? I wasn't expecting them to throw the book at him that hard. I'm sure they could just take all the money he owes them in fines or whatever. Perhaps the judge was a vampire...

I guess i don't put evasion up there with cheating stock holders and destroying the lives of employees like Enron did. Ah well. Don't evede taxes, beotch!

From reading the story, it looks like he did some fucked up shit for a long time.. if this wasn't who it was, nobody would think this was too much time. He'll be in a lush minimum security hotel for his time I'm sure..

There's a difference between not paying/filing and evading. Snipes evaded. He deserves what he gets.

You can get in trouble for not filing even if it turns out the government owes you money. Something like that wouldn't deserve a harsh penalty but hiding money in offshore accounts does IMO.

I think he was only sentenced for failing to file tax returns, not evasion or fraud. It seems pretty stiff but they were trying to give him a lot worse.

I waited about 3 years before i filed my taxes once. I filed 3 years worth of W-2's at the same time. Don't ever do that. I filed my '04 taxes twice. Got paid twice. Spent it twice, but got a letter from the IRS stating that they wanted their money back. I couldn't remember if I had filed them or not. The H&R Block lady told me it would be fine, the IRS would sort it out. She was right, but it took them awhile. The IRS was real nice about it, though.

Now I do my own taxes, every year.

P.S. Passenger 57 was a great movie!

If you really believe the tax laws are screwed, you should protest them vigorously, which he did. Fight for what you believe in, be prepared to go to jail if you break the laws before you change them.

Death and taxes.

That's not called protesting.
