New Comic Inspired MMOG from Cryptic

From the guys that brought you City of Heroes/Villains. Based on the old PnP game called Champions. Clearly Cryptic isn't going to be dissuaded by losing Marvel and MS. The Marvel/MS collaboration was slated to be released on PC/PS3/X360, so it's possible this will be available on all three platforms as well.

There's not much there yet, but they do claim that combat will no longer be 'autoattack and wait'. The art appears to be cell-shaded and it looks pretty good.

Is this basically the same Champions game that was supposed to come out in the early 90's, or is it related to the Champions RPG (p&p) that has been out for a while now? I cannot follow the link from work to see any info.

Aha! nevermind...my employer recently lowered restrictions on sites we can visit, and I was able to check the link out. It IS based on the p&p RPG! yay! I still have a lot of my stuff from campaigns that friends and I ran for years. It could be fun to work some of those characters into this setting

The latter. But the Champions game that was supposed to come out in the early 90s was also related to the Champions RPG that came out in '81 (I believe).

I always wanted to make my own danger room. The closest I got was making one using the Adventure Construction Set with the C-64 but that was a text based game!

I still have the manuals for Champions RPG hidden away in some box. I randomly generated a danger room or two with those rules as well.
