Belichick has been cheating since 2000

Post by Spang »

He should be banned from the NFL.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/f ... index.html
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Bill Belichick has been illegally taping opponents' defensive signals since he became the New England Patriots' coach in 2000, according to Sen. Arlen Specter, who said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told him that during a meeting Wednesday.

"There was confirmation that there has been taping since 2000, when Coach Belichick took over," Specter said.

Specter said Goodell gave him that information during the 1-hour, 40-minute meeting, which was requested by Specter so the commissioner could explain his reasons for destroying the Spygate tapes and notes.

"There were a great many questions answered by Commissioner Goodell," Specter, the senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, told reporters after the meeting. "I found a lot of questions unanswerable because of the tapes and notes had been destroyed."

Goodell said Belichick told him he believed the taping was legal; Goodell said he did not concur.

"He said that's always been his interpretation since he's been the head coach," the commissioner said. "We are going to agree to disagree on the facts."

Specter, from Pennsylvania, wants to talk to other league officials about what exactly was taped and which games may have been compromised.

"We have a right to have honest football games," he said.

Goodell noted that "we were the ones that disclosed" the Patriots' illegal taping of the New York Jets' defensive signals in Week 1 of last season. Further, Goodell said, they had an admission by Belichick.

"I have nothing to hide," Goodell said.

Goodell also told Specter that that he doesn't regret destroying the Spygate tapes or the notes.

"I think it was the right thing to do," Goodell said.

Still, Specter wants to know why penalties were imposed on Belichick before the full extent of the wrongdoing was known and the tapes destroyed in a two-week span. Asked if he thinks there was a coverup, Specter demurred.

"There was an enormous amount of haste," Specter said.

He scoffed at the reasons Goodell gave for destroying the tapes and notes, particularly about trying to keep them out of competitors' hands and because Belichick had admitted to the taping.

"What's that got to do with it? There's an admission of guilt, you preserve the evidence," Specter said. As for keeping the tapes out of the hands of others: "All you have to do is lock up the tapes."

Belichick was fined $500,000 and the team was fined $250,000 because of the Spygate incident. The Patriots also forfeited a first-round draft pick.

Specter has questioned the quality of the NFL's investigation into the matter and raised the possibility of congressional hearings if he wasn't satisfied with Goodell's answers. Specter also raised the threat of Congress canceling the league's antitrust exemption and reiterated that in the meeting with Goodell.

Goodell also said he has not heard from Matt Walsh, the former Patriots employee who performed some videotaping duties for the team.

Walsh told The Associated Press last week during the Pro Bowl in Hawaii that he couldn't talk about allegations that he taped a walkthrough practice by the St. Louis Rams before the 2002 Super Bowl. New England, a two-touchdown underdog, won that game 20-17.

Goodell said he has offered Walsh a deal whereby "he has to tell the truth and he has to return anything he took improperly" in return for indemnity. Specter said he, too, wanted to talk to Walsh and perhaps offer a different deal.

Goodell also said he reserves the right to reopen the investigation if more information is uncovered.

Wait, there is actually a LAW that states he cannot do this? Also, where do we get the "right to have honest football games?" Can we start a government probe into why professional wrestling is faked? Why do we refer to them as "lawmakers" when this is how they spend their time?

Does Congress specifically give exemptions to the WWE so they can be a monopoly? No? Well, that's why Congress is looking into this issue (and why they are looking into steroids in baseball). The "lawmakers" are doing their job, this just happens to be part of it.

I would love to see the Patrios get absolutely blistered with sanctions. They knew it was illegal. The tapings alone are just part of the cheating they have used to win since Bellicheat took over. How is it that opponents always seem to lose their communications at critical points of games and it NEVER affects the Pats? This fucker should be banned and they should be heavily hammered with losses of draft picks and money....if not outright stripped of every title they won since he came.

We must stop the unfair treatment of the New England Patriots

"All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing."

- Edmund Burke

And so I ask you, good men of the world, to not stand idly by while evil prevails. A great injustice has been foisted upon the public, and if good men do not act, evil men will succeed with evil deeds, and we will all suffer.

So please, take action now, and sign this petition demanding that the NFL investigate the final 100 seconds of Super Bowl XLII (via Kissing Suzy Kolber), where the noble and good New England Patriots were screwed over by the vile NFL.

This actually exists. I'm not making this up. I couldn't make this up, because I have a tiny shred of a belief that humanity is not so far gone that any group of people out there could believe that the Patriots actually deserved to win Super Bowl XLII.

The people who have created and signed the petition appear to be serious. Fans of the New England Patriots, who have won 3 of the last 7 Super Bowls, who won 18 straight games, and who were the beneficiaries of the "tuck rule" play, actually believe that they were conspired against. If you are one of the people who created or signed this petition, please, I beg of you, immediately seek out a mental health professional. This might help.

As of right now, there are 1,454 signatures, which means that there are at least 1,454 Patriots fans in the world who are borderline delusional, and have major problems grasping reality. Or at least, 1,454, minus the number of people who saw this on KSK, and then began to sign the petition in a less-than-serious and often more-than-profane manner.

Christmas Ape linked to this petition earlier in the day, from Patriot fans calling on Roger Goodell to investigate the outcome of the Super Bowl. Yes, because no Boston team can ever lose without it being a cosmic injustice of notable historic significance, this petition has garnered well over 1,000 signatures from Boston-bred douchebags the world over. Let’s have a sample, shall we?

38. Dave Rosenthal I can't believe this isn't a big story. I mean, we should be 19-0, but the NFL hates that Pats, so instead we have to go through this the rest of our lives knowing we got gypped.

91. Bradley Whitaker The referees seemed as though they wanted the Patriots to finally lose.

119. Brandon Lathrop Proven That the game was over after eli was tackled, should have been a patriots win, this was a all set up by the nfl as a conspiracy.

109. Andrew Paterson It is obvious that, whether by accident or intent, the clock was kept in the last 1:40 illegally and in such a way that it cost the New England Patriots a fair chance to win the Super Bowl. This is not bitterness talking, I actually believe the outcome would or could have been different. Please, at the very least an acknowledgement or apolgy, if not your ordering of a replay of the game from that point on, even though I realize how much that is to ask.

105. alex ketabi this must be investigated. this completely proves that the patriots should be super bowl champions

312. Meaghan O'Toole give the patriots their rightful win

968. Daniel Duggan I was orinally signer 47. I have since found my dignity and self respect. I formally withdraw signature 47. Oh and this one too. Please don't count me twice. Don't count me once either. Don't count me at all please. Though we did get ripped off 1:40. That kinda sucked. You know? I mean with that extra time and all, we could have won it. In fact we deserved to win. GOD DAMN. WE WERE CHEATED. We WERE EFFEN CHEATED! THIS SUCKS. THIS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY SUCKS. We should be 19-0 and on top of the world. Man, I hope this petition gets to Mr. Goodell. He can make it right. PLEEEEEASE make this right Roger. Please, Please,Please, Undefeated that's what we should be. Undefeated.

1144. Shamus Hughes Not only was the game clock illegal, there were questionable calls during the pass in which Eli Manning threw that pass downfield, there were 2 holding calls, including a severe one on Adalius Thomas. The fact that the NFL is trying to make the Mannings the faces of the NFL has to stop and they have to realize that its time to start calling fair games, even if the Patriots are playing

194. Erik Frenz I don't know much about the rules of the NFL but as a Patriots fan if this is true I feel cheated. If this is true there should seriously be a replay of the last 1:40 of the Super Bowl. I didn't bet on it myself, but a lot of people lost or gained a lot of money on this game and the real outcome deserves to be known.

193. John Vairo I would like to call out all the hypocritical Giants' fans here. If you think you're so amazing, then why are you so afraid to possibly play another game? According to you, the Super Bowl is more important than any other game. So if you were so "dominant" in this "fixed" game, why are you so afraid to replay 2 minutes of a game or even a whole additional game? You talk so high and mighty like you're the greatest team ever, but then hide in the corner, content with the excuse of "Well, we won. It doesn't matter if it was fixed or not." I strongly encourage the commissioner of the NFL to investigate this matter, because to not, would destroy the integrity of the game, and will make me stop watching the NFL from now on, because it is clearly fixed.

Stunning, isn't it? You wouldn't think that one group of people could reach suchs high levels of both arrogance and insecurity simultaneously. It's the sort of thing anthropologists will study years from now, asking themselves, "How was such douchebaggery enabled in a civilized society?" Alas, I do not know the answer. I wish I did. I really, really do. So we at KSK felt naturally obligated to sign the petition as well. Here were our sentiments.

1116. Obill Bin Cheetin All my internet warriors. Stay in cave. We weather storm together. Camel lick raw butt. We be better in no time.

1186. Tommy This is fackin' bull shit! That dahhhkie Mike Carey rawbbed our man Welkahhhhh of the MVP! AS FAAAAAHHHH AS I'M CONCERNED, WE'AH UNBEATEN!!!!

1183. B-Simm It's not fair! This was supposed to be OUR moment! I had a bag of frozen peas waiting for Tom!

1151. supermike4ever I only started rooting for the Patriots once they started winning Super Bowls. Now I don't know what to do.

1163. Matt Walsh I am filming all of you signing this.

We encourage you to sign it as well. Show these Pats fans that you support them. They need you. BECAUSE THEY ARE FUCKING LOSERS WHO CANNOT GET OVER ANY SLIGHT THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO THEM, BE IT REAL OR IMAGINARY. We'll post the best ones here. Please note you can sign it many times over!

UPDATE: Here are some good ones:

1152. Teddy Bruschi's Skull Clot I'll be back and so will the.......*thud*

1160. Randy Moss' girlfriend Please let Randy win the Super Bowl! He's going to kill me!

1177. T Kennedy The Er Eh... Pats were er eh robbed.

1181. Bob Hi there. I'm a Pat's fan. I believe that we were robbed. I also believe that having a cock up my ass is very enjoyable.

1184. Victor Kiam Every time I think that the city of Boston can't sink any lower they go and do this-AND TOTALLY REDDEM THEMSELVES!!

1196. Retard Ed McDouche Not only should the NFL investigate this game, but they should review every game from the last 25 years and award every Super Bowl to the Pats. Tom Brady is the one true Messiah and Coach Bellichik should be elected president. This is all the fault of black people. Now I have to go drink whiskey and beat my wife.

1215. Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer Your world frightens and confuses me, when I see a solar eclipse, like the one I went to last year in Hawaii, I think 'Oh no! Is the moon eating the sun?' I don't know. Because I'm a caveman -- that's the way I think. But there is one thing I do know, the Patriots were robbed of their rightful championship

1294. hines ward prease lepray superbewrr. praxico is tarr leceivel but i win superbewrr without him! i hate praxico! he no make me smerre.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

Bengals WR surrenders to police after hitting man, 18
Posted: Thursday April 3, 2008 12:27AM; Updated: Thursday April 3, 2008 10:20AM

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry is in trouble again, accused by an 18-year-old man who told police that Henry hit him in the face and broke his car window with a beer bottle.

Henry, 24, was charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal damaging in the Monday incident in Cincinnati. A warrant for his arrest was issued Wednesday, and Henry surrendered, a police spokesman said.

Henry was being held in the Hamilton County jail pending a court appearance Thursday.

Henry has had a string of problems with police. He most recently was in court last week after being ticketed for driving with expired Kentucky license plates. He paid $149 in fines and court costs, according to the Hamilton County Municipal Court records.

Henry, arrested four times during a 14-month span, was suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for the first half of last season for repeatedly violating the league's conduct policy.

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said the team is aware of the charges but declined comment.

The player's agent, Marvin Frazier, said Henry gave him a different version of events but declined to elaborate.

"I was told it didn't happen that way," Frazier said.

Court records don't indicate that Henry has hired an attorney in the new case.

According to a statement filed with Hamilton County authorities, Henry was identified by Gregory Meyer, whose hometown was not listed, and an eyewitness. The eyewitness claimed Henry punched Meyer, causing "visible injury." Henry then threw a beer bottle at Meyer's car, breaking the rear passenger window, according to the affidavit.

After his prior arrest, Henry pleaded guilty to letting minors drink alcohol in a hotel room he had rented. He served two days in a northern Kentucky jail.

The Bengals issued a statement expressing frustration with Henry when he was in traffic court a year ago for driving with a suspended license.

Following his NFL suspension, Henry caught 21 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns.

He's under contract so he plays for the Bang-als or hopes to get traded (which is supposedly what he is after, not necessarily a bigger contract)... but he fucks himself a bit in the trade thing by going public and devaluing himself. I read someplace (can't remember where) that someone in Cinn. said that he will play for them or not at all.

Maybe trade him for Anquan Boldin who wants his money now that Fitzgerald is the highest paid receiver in the NFL.

I like Boldin. He's super phsycial, run after the catch type guy but we could use Chad Johnson as our deep threat because Fitz is a possession receiver.

I'm not sure why Johnson wants out of Cinncinati but if its to be on a contender, I can't see him being any happier in Arizona...

BTW were you the guy taking the Matt Leinart party pics? :p

The Cardinals kind of screwed themselves with giving Larry Fitzgerald a totally incentive based rookie contract (low guarantees, lots of money if incentives are met, of which larry met all of them). So, they had to give him a huge contract before this year, or trade him (why didn't they trade him to the eagles :( ). Now they have to pay Boldin a similar amount, and they kind of screwed other teams because similar players will expect contracts like Larry's.

I don't know, I would much rather keep Boldin than trade him for Chad Johnson. As much as the Cardinals suck every year, Johnson would totally screw up team chemistry, and is has a very very different philosophy than Fitzgerald. I really hope the Cardinals aren't a disappointment this year because Boldin and Larry are awesome, and deserve better than that terrible franchise has given them (well, except money wise), so far.

I'm a little worried about Matt Leinart. He was sucking before he got injured last year and now there are articles about him partying it up too much. If Leinart doesn't pan out, the Cardinals are screwed. They're bringing back Warner who is capable but getting older and even more injury prone.

I'm a big fan of Boldin's. I was just thinking if the Cardinals got Chad with his contract running out we could move him or dump him the next year. They can't afford two super high paid WRs. Boldin also has a history of knee problems and also gets injured a lot due to his hard-nosed running style.
