Beautiful Katamari - 360

Post by Fairweather Pure »

This incarnation is exactly like all the previous versions. It's graphics are improved and more objects fit on the screen, but the gameplay hasn't changed at all. I'm ok with that, because I know what I'm getting into and I happen to love the other 2 PS2 versions I have.

Anyway, a lot of reviewers seem pretty down on the graphics. I'm not sure what the big deal is, I thought they were fine and improved enough for me to take notice. If they started making things ultra realistic, well, that wouldn't be a Katamari game. Although, an ultra-realistic version does sound fun too!

What I'm truely dissappointed about was the time it took to beat the game. Maybe 4 hours tops? That marks this as the shortest of all the Katamari games, by far. The original took about 8 hours. The first sequel was the same. Granted, I have not gotten every gift or acheivement point, but I have unlocked all the different areas and finished the game.

If not for the shorter than short gameplay, I would rank this as the best of the series. I attribute that to the fact that there is simply more shit to roll up at any given time, from the time you're tiny and stuck in a house to when you're rolling up the galaxy itself.
