So I picked up one of these monitors, and overall it's been a pretty good experience. It's a little strange going from CRT to LCD, but I'm getting there. Thing is, I'm not really sure what I should be expecting with it. I'm running at 1680x1050 and I swear the pixels look gigantic. I get very noticeable jagginess on fonts and in games (WoW specifically). I used to run on my 19" CRT at 1600x1200, so I understand that really I should be expecting worse resolution. Larger screen size + smaller resolution = bigger pixels. I guess I just wasn't prepared by how MUCH of a difference there was. The writeup says this is a 20", but the box it came in says 20.1". My brother uses a 20" and his is noticeably smoother, so I guess that extra .1" really makes an impact.
Just thought I'd post about this... maybe I'm doing something wrong, haven't got something set up properly? I dunno!

I've yet to see any LCD look as good as an equivalent CRT.

Are you running it in its native resolution? I don't have a problem withthe resolution of my LCD.Dregor Thule wrote:So I picked up one of these monitors, and overall it's been a pretty good experience. I actually think my LCD looks better than an equivalent CRT. Then again I guess I haven't really used a 24" widescreen CRT before... Regardless, I have no complaints with my picture quality.Siji wrote:I've yet to see any LCD look as good as an equivalent CRT.

Hello to three years ago. I remember those days of the crappy looking LCDs. That ended with the Dell 2404WFP unless you're some sort of professional color analyst, which I'll go ahead and say you're not, and has gotten even better since unless you buy budget monitors.Siji wrote:I've yet to see any LCD look as good as an equivalent CRT.

Yes, its native resolution is 1680x1050, which I run everything in now, at least that which can be!

I believe there were a couple settings in WoW to lose some of the jagged lines with the font text.

Make sure you have ClearType fonts on in display properties/appearance/effects to remove the jaggies from windows fonts.

Alright, see, that's something I didn't know. Wow.. this is weird

Re: LG L206WTY-BF 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor
For some reason I like it better with Clear Type off but it's nice to have the option. Clear Type seems a little blurred to me and I prefer things on the sharper side.

Yes, I'm seeing what you mean. It's almost like the level of colour in the letters isn't consistent at all. They seem to fade out a bit!
