This is a beautiful french film by Luc Besson (Fifth Element, Leon the Proffessional). It's shot in black & white to great effect. I think most people would enjoy this movie. It's being released tomarrow on DVD (11/20/07) for those that care to rent/buy/netflix it. I'd thought I posted a link to the trailer about 2 years ago when it was released in France but I couldn't find it. I may have posted it on another board.
Anyway, I appreciate movies that are different. This is a good example of such a film. I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea though.

Re: Angel-A DVD
I'll try and flesh out the review a bit that I attempted above.
Angel-A is like Pretty Woman for men. It takes a down on his luck man, and pairs him with a beautiful woman who's sole purpose is to make him find himself and feel good about who he really is on the inside. The journey is enjoyable, with some funny lines and situations throughout. Btw, the woman who plays Angela is a goddamn super freak of a woman. I kept thinking of the line from Duece Bigalo "That's a huge bitch!" or "Keep it in the circus!".
Overall, the movie can get a tad sappy, so be prepared. I give it a solid 8/10. It has a good moral, and I loved watching every second of Angela on screen.
One particular scene, which is about 10 minutes long and filled with high emotion, has some cool camera tricks. It starts with our hero staring into a mirror. The camera goes from over the shoulder, pans as it sweeps behind the wall, and now has the perspective of the mirrior itself. Some other effects are woven in as well, all the while it never breaks frame once. Very subtle but nice to see. It's funny to think about how they pulled that shot off. I bet behind the scenes it was pretty frantic. It reminds me of a scene in Murder in the First, where the camera does a 360 around Kevin Bacon. It weaved in and out of the cell that he's in. The behind the scenes showed mayhem as the crew removed cell bars and camera track and replaced them by the time the camera had made the angle.
